Who did we sign him instead of that summer? Can't really remember us being linked with too many midfielders that summer

Had ridiculous wage demands or something didn't he?

Yeah, we didn't want to pay the £100k+ a week and then Liverpool swooped in. It was the same with Wijnaldum as well.

God, imagine if we signed Mane & Wijnaldum that summer :ROFLMAO:

We definitely would have won the league in that last season at WHL.

Great servant of the club and provided real power to the midfield in his pomp with us.

Effective when passing before the final third and letting someone else finish the move.

Bon chance Moose

I was so happy when he started to come good for those 2 years

I might be a bit of a romantic but I love it when a player starts proving the doubters wrong
I hate this trend of of just insulting the players and treating them like scapegoats when their form goes down for whatever reason

happy for him that he gets to stay in London and continue his career at a high level, good luck

For some reason, we have archives of every other transfer window apart from Summer 2016. Rather than blame @Archibald&Crooks for incompetence I like to think we decided to just delete the whole debacle.

To be frank, that was the window where I began to really follow the transfer sagas on here, and it was fantastic. The build up with rumors linking us with fantastic players, positive vibes from all sources, then one by one our deals fell through, people started to worry, ITKs started going more silent... Then hope (or fear from some on here) for the last few days for a "Levy-special" and a transfer deadline day which ended up with Sissoko diverging his plane going to Everton and signing with us 5 minutes to deadline. The rollercoaster of emotions and absolute bafflement in the end was simply amazing to be a part of - I've been hoping for us to replicate it each summer since then :)

Good luck to him, always gave effort for his lack of ability

Not sure I agree with this notion, there were a number of times he let runners go who ended up scoring or creating goals, is that effort or a complete lack of awareness?

I wish him well, he seems likes a good egg but I won’t remember him particularly fondly and I’m glad he is no longer part of our playing squad because he was a part of the problem and not the solution going forward. Rather as an embodiment of how far we had fallen that he became a key first team player
