I was about the write exactly this,. Why is it in anyone's interest to make the bigger teams so elite they are untouchable. Baffles me why the media are so desperate for this to happen.

There's an argument that there's a symbiotic relationship and mutual interest between the TV companies and United, especially, remaining a top team. There was an article or commentary about this at the time of Poch being linked with a move there. It would be interesting to read it again but from memory it was stating that Sky et al get a lot of financial/marketing advantages in promoting United and other top teams and therefore banging the 'Kane to x' or 'Poch to United' drum serves their own interest and is not only saying it for the sake of it.

Yup they are also saying something about AP McCoy being the horse racing ITK source today as he was at the Charlie Kane wedding

If you google AP McCoy and Harry Kane there are zero photos of them together at any social event. You'd think if they were close they'd be at least one. If a poster is going to make something up, you'd think they'd do a tiny bit of research beforehand.

Am I right in thinking not a single one of our ITKs, on here or anywhere else, have said Kane will leave or City have bidded what we want?

Complete contrast to what some of the City ITKs are saying.

They are deluded. Do they really think if a deal was agreed that nobody, not a single journalist, would be tweeting about it?

I would assume you've not read his book or watched interviews, but prior to his move to Inter he was the epitome of the 'talent without effort'. He realised, through Raiola, that he had to work hard to extract every drop of talent, and shouldn't waste it by coasting and just being 'good'.

I think it was Raiola saying something like "Why would any of the best teams want you if you don't even want it yourself?"
Ok, no haven’t seen the doc or read the book. Thanks for clarifying! Not a bad output for someone just coasting ?

Hilarious. If he played after a deal, a British record transfer deal had been agreed the consequences of injury would be huge.

We would have been liable for a fortune. Absolute codswallop

He might still go, but there is no way in a bazillion Sunday’s he plays after a deal had been agreed

The poster has not claimed it is from AP McCoy, he said it's from a mate who works in the horse racing industry (mucks out the horses no doubt).

The relationship between subscribers to their platform (and stake in a betting company) & the promotion and bias towards Liverpool and Manchester clubs et al, is clear to see.

Imagine if all the news/reporting/propaganda you see and hear was only about a handful of clubs!! - it makes them seem bigger and more desirable/successful than they perhaps really are. Players could be swayed towards them, impartial fans become members/ST holders, generating more revenue, it drives further media articles, clips, click-bait, conversation... it's an information war/branding exercise.

Been wondering for a while...why is there no betting on HK transfer? Not with Sky or Ladbrokes anyway.

Since being their mouthpiece over the ESL debacle Neville seems to be getting a bit above his station at Sky Sports imo and having a bit of an influence pushing agendas. Wtf is this shite Gary Neville says Manchester United should move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane during final week of transfer window | Football News | Sky Sports

Fucking hypocrite.
He’s paid by Sky. His job is to get people clicking links, watching TV, talking about what he says. Which do you think is better for him from that perspective: saying what he did or “Harry Kane to knuckle down and quietly get back to work”?
The media don’t have a specific ‘Agenda’, except to say whatever it is they think that will get the most reactions/wind people up most. Judging by this thread, it’s working

Some other guy did though in another thread.

Anyway, I'm not going back on there until after the window closes to see their meltdown and they tell each other that Kane isn't that good anyway.

That's all well and good. But he tells Pogba to knuckle down and get on with it.

Of course Sky's agenda is to get clicks and viewers. That's the way it has to be.

But Neville cries foul on a number of things and is happy to call out others but then when the argument suits him, he's happy to behave in that same manner.

Even Carragher comes off fairly balanced a lot of the time (apart from when he's on Liverpool commentary)
