If you can watch the Newcastle and Everton draws without thinking it was basically Kane v 11 opposition players then I applaud you. Personally, he was just about the only bright spark in the second half of last season (along with the occasional moments of magic from Son and Bale) and I think people are doing what is only natural and downplaying their memories of how reliant we were on him in order to justify selling him and stop themselves getting too upset about it.

Fair enough - I'll give you that. He was excellent in those two.

But is that enough?

Though very amicable (now…) The expectation is they will come near, if not on par with what we want. Until then you know the stuff that has been stated already.

If he goes I’m with Trix 100%, never want him back. He doesn’t deserve to get anywhere near Greaves. Leave that up to Dane

No need to worry about him helping them win the CL. He will get injured, they will do well, then he will come but not fully fit and be dog shit when it matters
You can just see him getting injured, missing the CL final and going full kit wanker like JT if they win it.

I guess that's what we'll find out mate. If he fucks off and we finish 10th then we'll know for sure that he was the one dragging us forward (which I certainly felt throughout the season). If we end up signing a bunch of studs and challenge for top 4, with Hojbjerg, GLC, Reguilon etc all playing key roles then we'll know that the team was always better than it looked under Jose and maybe we didn't need Kane as much as we all thought.

I don't disagree, but there's no guarantee we can - and with no CL or even EL football and not that much money to spend on wages we can't go for players who are even vaguely proven to be able to get those numbers. We're going to have to take massive risks all over the board and hope they pay off.

We do have a decent amount to spend on wages but sure - there is no guarantee - having Kane hasn't guaranteed us anything so far either other than goals which help but don't automatically mean we win games.

Didn’t we want near £200m, would be shocked if they came anywhere near
That's what we put out yes but in my opinion (and it is only opinion) it's the same as when you label something up at a car boot when you overprice everything and you have the figure in your head you want whilst the buyer thinks they have a bargain. I imagine £150-160m is the figure we actually expect to receive but again it's just my opinion.

Except it wasn't like that. He had many brilliant moments - undeniably - and that's going to be super hard to replace. But he wasn't 'dragging the team'.

He was regularly quiet for extended periods of the game (as he was for England). His work rate his diminished considerably. He wasn't standing on the shoulder (because his pace means he can't really) and he was frequently losing the ball if he didn't win a free kick.

Don't get me wrong, he had a sensational season, but he absolutely was not dragging the team forward. Just my opinion

I mean if you're the top scorer and the top assist maker in the whole league while your team finishes 7th it seems hard to deny you're operating at a much higher level than many of your teammates. We'll be losing our best scorer and our best creator in one. He wasn't pulling wondergoals out every week like Bale was, but in terms of sheer effectiveness within the team it's hard to argue he didn't carry us somewhat.

Hope the number we're happy with is at least the number his numpty brother came out with.

It was always going to end this way. To reiterate what I’ve said earlier, as long as we don’t end up screwed like the Berbatov situation, then although I won’t be happy about, I’ve made my peace with it.

Just hope that if it does go through then it allows us to strengthen midfield which is an area that seems to have been forgotten about with all the talk of CB’s and strikers.

If Fabio was getting any sleep and time away from his phone, he certainly won’t be now with all that extra £££ to spend.. I think exciting times ahead!

Gutted if he goes, even if we get £160m. Best player i've seen in a Spurs shirt and home grown. But seen players come and go before, just hope we can use money to push on and be competitive again
