His not speaking to Nuno is really strange. I would have thought any new manager would have called all of his new charges to introduce himself and generally be friendly.
Being a Spurs supporter is never boring (unless watching a JM or AVB team play)
Exactly. I don't think we will ever know the full story and I doubt the club are 100% innocent in this - they have their own interests obviously as well - but between the two stories, Kane's requires a lot more mental gymnastics. Occam's razor and all that.

if he does stay and sign his contract, at the very fecking least, he should be stripped of the vice captaincy and untouchable status until he earns the respect of the fans and most importantly his team mates back!!!!

Surely the fact he has a new contract after his shenanigans indicates he is untouchable! Why break him down if he is staying ? Fuck it give him the captaincy....

Totally torn on what should happen with Harry. One thing that has happened though is Charlie Kane has killed him agency career post Harry. Even the media have turned from digging us to digging him out.

Unfortunate that Real Madrid are in the financial toilet. If Kane had to go, and we’d make a 150 to 200m out of it, I’d much rather he go join Bale for some fun in the sun, golf, and the occasional football game. It’s not that I am bereft at the thought of him going, but rather who he is potentially leaving for. My annoyance and disgust is with City. The fact that they have the financial muscle to do whatever the hell they want. And care not a jot about unsettling players or publicly tapping up targets, is emblematic of their entire attitude toward the game. Pep is the perfect manager for them. An arrogant, egotistical, classless prick of a human being. Who reflects the club’s shitty attitude. Despise them and him.

It suggests to me that this summer’s transfer to City has fallen through. Kane now gets more of the money he would have gotten in years five and six of his contract, and we get a guaranteed bumper sum next summer, assuming any new contract includes a buyout clause. Win for us, win for Kane.

That could well be it. There’s been talk of a deadline imposed by us to get it all sorted. Maybe that passed at the weekend? This has still got a while to run though I suspect. Typical Spurs to have a cloud hanging over us going into a season. It’s never straight forward.

I'm at the point where I am going to sit back and calmly watch how it all plays out. Ranting and raving won't change anything so let's wait and see what moves the three protagonists make between now and the end of the transfer window.

I’ve been through all the stages - denial, anger, etc. and am also quite calm now.

If Man City stump up the money now Paratici can totally revamp our team, and we’ll be stronger in the long run.

If he stays, we’ll have the best attack in the league this season with a great chance of finishing top 4.

Signing a new contract would be optimal as it:

Provides a chance to heal his relationship with the fan base.
Sends a message to our players, and other clubs, that we are not a selling club and cannot be bullied.
Ensures we get the price we want if he does move next summer (if conditions are met - e.g. we’re not in the CL).
Ensures he can only move early in a window (e.g. must be activated in July), ensuring minimal disruption next summer.

Either way, it is imperative he is not booed in the stadium on Sunday.

I don't have much in the way of detail on this but am told that talks went well. What that means for his future, I don't know.

One thing for certain is that Charlie is way out of his depth, and is causing a lot of the problems. That does not excuse Harry's extended break though, he's far from blameless in all of this. It is thought though that had he of had strong representation most of this would have been avoided.

Still see Kane going. Can see city coughing up the 160m cash as they are desperate for a world class striker. I don’t think this will happen until last week of the window when they start getting more desperate. Will then be upto Kane if he still wants go which he most probably will. Win win for both as that’s a lot of cash to use in the market. Maybe even a cheeky bid for Chiesa as most clubs in Europe are cash strapped?

It's a lot of cash if we have time to spend it.

Guessing talks was like "If City makes xxx bid you go. If not will you be committed and stay and play to your best this year. We could look at a new deal with release clause added...". Harry might have said ok.

If this is the case, I am more than fine with it.

I think will have min a week. Paratici will have a final deadline in mind for any Kane deal.
That's true actually. Thank goodness for Fabio - I'm sure that he's probably as prepared as it's possible to be in terms of securing a replacement. It sounds like Daniel is taking personal charge of this situation though so it could well go to the wire unless Kane does agree to stay.

Charlie will be alright- he'll follow Harry around to whatever he does next and take a cut

Youre right but depends on if you try to get a like for like replacement and whether you can also deploy tactics that redirects the goals to other personnel. Instead of say Kane getting 25, Son with 20 and say Lucas/Gil with 5, you try to get Son to 25, Lucas with say 15 and then a striker who can score say 15

You can also get the creativity up across - it all depends on the tactics but youre right overall that Kane would be a huge loss and missing a lot of goals but you redirect those to other players. With hopefully a stronger defence we can technically finish above last years finish. Lets not forget Kane got big numbers last season yet we finished 7th
Yes I get thats what we would have to try and do as there is no direct replacement, he's unique. But imo it's fantasy to think we could make ourselves a better team without Kane or incredibly unlikely.

I haven’t changed my tune.

If he’s staying, then commit to staying, and if he’s going, hurry up and go so we can spend the money in a depressed market.
I’m sort of with this. In many ways we’re in a win-win situation. Either he’s sold in the next couple of weeks, and for very good money, or he stays and we retain the services of one of the best forwards currently on the planet.

But, he needs some of his influence taken away, especially from the realms of decision making that ordinarily belong to a manager or Chairman- no rushing back from injury to play in the more glamorous games and no presiding power over the firing or hiring of managers ( and, please, no free kicks). And he needs to apologise to the squad, the last thing we need is a group of players disaffected because someone who let them down has been rewarded for unprofessional behaviour
