But Kane is in reality neither 'available' or 'for sale'. His contract determines the first and the wishes of his club the second
It was years ago, but I think Levy once famously said something to the effect that "the club is always for sale - if the right bid comes in."

Same thing applies to the players - they are always for sale, at the right price.

Totally agree but City's reputed offer of £100m certainly isn't that. It was a derogatory bid designed solely to show their definite interest and unsettle Harry. Mutually agreed release clauses are the only way forward in stopping this.

Extending contracts on players that want to leave.
Granit Xhaka is a good example. The Arsenal midfielder wanted to leave and the club wanted him to go. But nobody was willing to meet the asking price and so Arsenal extended his contract, which was due to expire in 2023, to protect his value.

Little bit different if we see Kane sign a new one isn't it? Xhaka is shite and Arsenal are inept in offering him a new contract and their fans think as much as he has little value as it stands and it's only down from there. We'd essentially be doing this to ensure he buys in this season and we get his full commitment and to secure his value to us, but there will be a value in his case. I don't think anyone understands them giving Xhaka a new deal as his value is low already, and nobody seems to want him at the club. Truly weird.

Agree. Gets rid confusion and offers transparency. Pep's comments added to the mix were uncalled for and unprofessional and contributed to media shitstorm. Would have loved to have seen Jose respond to that, alas Nuno did well and don't want this to overshadow his plans.

Even though I’ve not been happy with him, if Kane signs a massive new deal and stays with us forever I’d be very very happy.

We’re better with him than without, especially if Levy has finally clicked that getting top quality players in And competing in champions league is more portable than being cheap and missing out.

Plus Paratici handling the deals makes me more comfortable than when Levy did it.

Levy has done well with training ground and stadium, but aside from setting a budget ensuring we don’t go stupidly overspending, he needs to leave football playing side to others.

If Harry puts pen to paper on a new deal before August 23rd as per Dragon’s info, then fair play to him, and I hope he redeems himself.

Gerrard pushed to leave Liverpool once, and Messi wanted to leave Barcelona last summer (less said the better on what happened since with that one) - for me it’s not unforgivable.

I think the way he’s gone about it has been unprofessional, and incredibly disrespectful to the club, to his team mates, and to both Mason and Nuno. And I think rebuilding those bridges would take some time. But it’s not beyond repair *if* he’s willing to publicly commit to the club.

If he isn’t, then as I’ve said before, I hope he leaves sooner rather than later so we can rebuild without him.

Either way, we need a complete resolution one way or the other, ASAP.

Kane should probably find a proper agent too, and stop wasting his time on his donkey of a brother.

Nice to see you’ve changed your tune.

Completely agree with everything you say for what it’s worth.

I'm just not sure about this. Not that the following can be done with the snap of a finger but I can't lie in that a big part of me just wants us to sell him ASAP and get in Martinez and Vlahovic.

Much as I wouldn’t mind either of them it’s still a risk that they’ll settle, whereas Kane is proven premier league quality.

I would like to think we’re getting at least one of them anyway as need centre forward rotation options and depth.

He wasnt dropped for footballing reasons, it was pay, contractual and the way he dealt with it behind the scenes

Yeah that was why he was dropped, but then do remember Poch bought him back for one game (think it was Palace) and he was absolutely attrious!

Don't think he started after that lol.

Both D1 and Hercules have said this. Yet Kane still comes out with that statement the other day. I really don’t know what Kane is playing at other that trying to engineer a move. That’s why them wanting a new contract news doesn’t seem to make sense
It suggests to me that this summer’s transfer to City has fallen through. Kane now gets more of the money he would have gotten in years five and six of his contract, and we get a guaranteed bumper sum next summer, assuming any new contract includes a buyout clause. Win for us, win for Kane.

I think he has enough credits in the bank for a little forgiveness from all of us.
Being honest, when it came to sticking a tenner on top scorer of the season I used to question whether he would deliver or whether those goals were a fluke in the season gone? Eventually, after several years of being proved wrong i stopped asking the question and backed him!

With the new players we are bringing in I think one more year of the Harry we know would be amazing.

I feel very mixed about all of this extra holiday mess-up - something I never thought I'd feel about Harry Kane.

However, as to the future, I would love him to stay and for us to keep signing more players/strikers to upgrade our squad. I want Nuno to really be in charge here and to not always play him so that he's run into the ground. I want some young ones to be brought through, too. Harry Kane has been a huge part of Spurs' recent history and I want us to win with him.

Personally I hope this ITK today is true and that he recommits himself to us and signs a new contract and stays. That's still the best outcome IMO. We all know he's world class and irreplaceable no matter how much money we'd get to spend. Go and get Lautaro to play with Harry and go for the league this year, why not? And telling City to fuck off would just be so satisfying.

Oh come off it. You’re just trolling

I want him gone and am painfully aware of his short comings, but he’s absolutely one of the top 3 strikers in the world.

Why else would the world’s best manager, with the world’s biggest budget, be trying to buy him?
He’s the only manger in the world who even after spending just under a Billion pounds on his squad still can’t win the CL with the club with the world’s biggest budget. Not sure how that makes him the world’s best manager.
If Sean Dyce had spent a Billion pounds over the last 6 years I feel sure he would have won the CL by now.

Kane has handled this whole situation about as badly as he could, under the so called guidance of his idiot brother. This all now feels like damage limitation, whether that be because he stays or leaves on good terms, who knows. Bad and all as his behaviour has been, he is still the best in the premiership and if he signs a new deal and we get another 3 or 4 more seasons out of him then I am all for that, better him starting in our first 11 than facing him on the opposite sid. Couple that with a new director of football, more ambition and hopefully some on-field success and Bobs your uncle.
Will he be the hero he used to be ....NO, but say if he puts a few past Arsenal in a London derby then things will be forgotten and forgiven a lot easier.
More importantly, either way we will have stood up to the likes of City, said they will not be bullied and proved that we either kept our prized asset or let it go at our valuation, not theirs.

If there's any truth in the recent murmurings then this has to go either one of two ways, which can only benefit the club:

1. Harry signs a new deal, makes a public apology for his actions and commits himself to Spurs. None of that bullshit so called apology like from the other day. It needs to be a video, interview with the club etc. that shows nothing but solidarity and long term ambition to help Spurs win titles. He also needs to mend relationships in the dressing room, apologise for his actions and commit to his team mates.

2. If he still wants to leave, fine, but we get a release clause written into the contract that reflects the fair market value for him - upwards of 150m, so that the club get what he's actually worth and not a cut price. None of this gentleman's agreement bollocks.

In the event that things change again in the next week or two, we have to hold firm and only accept an offer that benefits the club in terms of atmosphere in the dressing room and income. Ie, get rid of the toxicity and receive a fair fee for him.

The thing with the whole "the club knew about Harry's plans and he's not actually done anything wrong" narrative is that it leaves two pretty major questions unanswered:

  1. Why has he not spoken to his new manager?
  2. Why take so long to address the situation with a statement - and then be so vague when you finally do?

His not speaking to Nuno is really strange. I would have thought any new manager would have called all of his new charges to introduce himself and generally be friendly.
Being a Spurs supporter is never boring (unless watching a JM or AVB team play)
