Those of you turning him don’t deserve the wonderful seven seasons (which other great player has given us that much and been great the entire time?) he has given us.

That doesn’t mean you have to like what he’s saying, it doesn’t sit easy with me either, but ultimately we’re ending this summer either with Harry Kane, or £150-200m worth of new signings, neither of which is a disaster. Take it easy on him,

What I find is how hypocritical these fans can be. If it's a good player they expect nothing but unadulterated loyalty, you have to be prepared to die for the badge. If you aren't that good though you get zero loyalty shown back and it's all "get out of my club". Can't have your cake and eat it surely?

Can't believe some are getting angry that he would like to play football with De Bruyne. I would like to play football with KDB. You would like to play with KDB. Every single professional, semi-professional, amateur and armchair warrior would like to play with De Bruyne. Who gives a fuck?

De Bruyne would get so annoyed playing with me. I don’t have the mobility to stay onside; or to make runs in behind. I make the same kind of face Tanguy made when he came on against wolves if I need to break into a jog for any reason.

He’d be soooo pissed off. It would be hilarious.

He’s irreplaceable for a team of our stature. Simple as. If he goes we’ll have to rebuild cause there isn’t a player out there of his caliber that would sign for Spurs.

We are not going to be able to get players in exchange. Nobody is going to want to leave Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City to come to us. We are a massive downgrade and the only chance we would have would be through a massive pay rise. Paying over the odds wages for average players is what has landed us with a squad that will be very hard to move on.
We are not a massive downgrade. We are struggling at the moment but remember we have been competing for honours with all those teams until the last couple of years.

i'm immensely grateful that he's been the best player i've seen play for us over the past decade. i'm also fuming at how disrespectful he's being to the club he allegedly loves.
None of his quotes are particularly disrespectful, and while he has got the timing badly off (assuming that Sky’s big scoop wasn’t just based off the Neville interview... I remain sceptical that it was any more than that) if that’s it’s just blip after being such a great player and model poster by then I can forgive it. In the best possible way, season has gone to shit sheet so what difference does it make?
I’m not one of those ‘wish him the best types’ or the pity party who want him to leave because he deserves better, if he leaves for another club in this league I couldn’t care less about him breaking records or winning trophies as if you’re not with us you’re against us, but I’m equally not going to hammer him after loving him for so long.
Or better still convince him to stay by providing those type of funds that back the manager and Kane that we mean business.
And yes I know both won't happen but it's the lift the clubs needs to get back amongst it
I’m not convinced you’re right on that last part, I think we may well but it might be too little too late.

Totally agreed. And I’m mindful of such things as I openly can’t stand certain players and hate ever seeing them on the pitch for us, so equally if Harry no longer wants to play with these guys I can’t exactly pretend I don’t get it.

Trouble is if we don't get back amongst it sooner rather than later that stadium will turn into a disaster if we are lurking mid table continually.

Yeah, I keep seeing doom merchants saying how we haven’t got a chance against the big clubs blah blah etc. We have had a couple of massively disrupted seasons, but we are still more than capable of competing next year. Our squad needs work, there’s no denying that, but it’s not out of the question that a good coach and a couple of good signings would have us competing again.

We aren’t little old Tottenham any more like we were in the 90s and 00s.

That’s probably true, but I also feel this is why the board will act as necessary now. I don’t think they’re going to risk being hit in the pocket, which is the reality facing our board after about a decade of consistent improvement both on the pitch and on the spreadsheet.

The big difference here is that Kane is super-professional. If Levy says he‘s not moving this year, he’ll play to his physical best even if he’s unhappy, so moving him on isn’t so pressing. We have leverage.
Managers don’t like unhappy players so it’ll be almost totally up to the new guy in charge I think. Until we have a new manager I think the jury is out on whether H is moving at all.

As much as the timing is bad. He's said most of these things, or similar things before in interviews to Sky during the season. I'm pretty sure he did an interview with Henry where he said he couldn't say he'd stay at Spurs for the rest of his career, but that as long as both parties were heading in the same direction he was happy. It may even have been in the lead up to the CL final. What was said actually wasn't all that groundbreaking or new.

Also all these people talking about Gerrard forgetting that he handed in a transfer request to try and force a move to Chelsea and only backed down because some Liverpool fans were threatening him and his family. That's why he stayed.

I echo this completely. When our best players push for a move (berbatov, bale, modric) it's like a divorce. I don't go to their next wedding and wish them all the best with their new squeeze.

Berba, Bale, Modric were dead to me. I didn't want them to win trophies. I'm a jealous ex. Bale came crawling back, so I let him back in. But if Kane ever goes (which I still think is impossible this summer), then he'll be dead to me too.

I can't stand the 'he deserves better than us' mentality.

On one hand we're pissed off that we can't compete with the richer clubs, but on the other hand some fans are basically encouraging our best players to move to them. 'He deserves to go and win trophies'. Then fucking win them here! These players don't want a 'new challenge'. They want NO challenge. Just jump on the open top City bus and touch the cups that they're gonna win with or without you every single year.

The timing thing really upset me but it might actually be a kick in the ass for Levy (nice one Harry) which gets wheels in motion for investing in a new project...

We are nowhere near. We are competing with Villa, Everton and Leeds.
At the moment, yes. But all the top clubs have had shit phases. Remember we were in the CL final just two years ago. Villa, Everton and Leeds weren’t even in the Europa League. We are a big club despite our current travails.

Agree, it’s not great to read but there’s some pretty clear messages there to our chairman, telling him to get his thumb out of his arse. If Kane can’t have an effect then who can.
