It depends whether Leicester completely run out of steam as they did late last season. Their lack of squad depth was exposed and I don't think that's changed much. If they maintain some form, you're right, but they just collapsed last season and missed out on a CL qualification that had looked nailed-on.
I think the COVID break had a lot to do with Leicester dropping off, never re-found their rythm after the break, so you'd expect them to make it over the line this time.

3 points off 3rd with a good GD (with an extra game played). That's a bit crazy. Still very unlikely, but maybe we can dream for another week or so
From that perspective, how could we be considered bad that we sacked a manager with possibility of nicking 3rd.

From another perspective, how bad were we when 3rd was there for the taking and yet we couldn't capitalise.

Need a draw in Chelsea/west ham this weekend to have a slight chance at top 4. 3 points back of Leicester when they have 2 in hand(as of now) is really not worth discussing.

We have to play them - so that helps, a couple of other slips ups aren't out of the question - they have Chelsea and Man U to play too.

I was having to drive around as kids had different clubs. so had to listen to the game on talk sport. Fuck me that was painful haven't listened to talk sport for ages and will not again if I can avoid it. Kept mentioning the super league and getting rid of our winner of a manager almost seem to forgetting there was a game on. Very negative towards spurs. Also kept saying very disappointed with Ryan for not picking Winks and Dele. As they would be fired up.

Apparently Winks is by far our best midfielder almost as physical as PEH and better vision and technicaly better than any of the other midfielders. :banghead::facepalm:

My son who likes spurs but doesn't really follow football that much was getting angry with them.

Anyway good to get the result it is hard to know what the performance was like as the commentary on TS was just awful.
TS match commentary is truly terrible. They talk about absolute shite and rarely tell you whats going on. They think youre watching it on the tv I think. 5 live os a 100 times better and thats not great.

What you have to remember is that the starting point was a fragile team low on form and confidence. The first half and how it went was probably inevitable, a tug of war between old and new. Trying to put into place what was being asked of them by a new regime – more possession, more play, more front foot, more pressing. The nonsense that’s been drilled into them for the last 18 months though still looming large. And so a team that looked uneasy and caught between playing styles. Couldn’t really complain that we went 1-0 down, heads did look dangerously close to dropping and the players stopped running for a time, and we just about survived a precarious spell of the game where we could have been left with too much to come back from.

Second half a combination of things happened. We kept trying to play, got a bit more control and play going through the midfield, we have to admit that Southampton died on their arse and the injury to Ings didn’t help them, but we kept plugging away, eventually managed to put some football together and in the end I felt we just about deserved all three points.

But hey, I’ve got zero expectations for the remaining games and any wins and performances are a bonus. All I can say is I saw some actual passing moves and football from us tonight, and at one point counted a 7 man press…… That’s automatically infinite progress as far as I’m concerned.

Pretty mad that young Mr Mason got the team playing better than a man who's literally won everything. Football is a fucked up game.

First half was a team adapting to a new manager and style of play, 2nd half was brilliant. Simple as that.
With all due respect, I disagree. I know how much you didn’t like Jose. That’s been abundantly clear in zillions of your posts. But the inference here is basically just reiterating your point, but dressed up differently.

Dude... he’s gone. The point, either inferred or not, doesnt feel applicable to tonight’s performance.

The players were lazy and inept in the first half. It is a disservice to suggest they were out of sorts due to needing to adapt to a new manager and style of play. It would be, if the players had looked disorganized or confused. They didn’t. They were sleep walking, indifferent, and showed very little determination. That has zero to do with style or adapting to a system. Effort and passion can be applied, regardless of the circumstances.

This point was made clear in their second half performance... as the main difference was their effort and application. And once they actually started to try harder, the system they were using looked coherent and effective. They played well, and in my opinion deserved to win.

But that happened, due to a profound change in attitude. Not because the players finally adapted to a system they were perhaps befuddled and confounded with starting the game. As the truth is, the positional set up was familiar. Their roles were familiar. The tweaks to how they applied that system and style may have been different, but it wasn’t like they were being asked to play a formation and style that was completely alien to them. They just sucked in H1. And tried much harder in H2. Good for them, and well done to Ryan and his staff for getting the players to ratchet up their effort.

For me the best two match commentators are Chris Coleman and Ally Mcoist my reasons are very little mentioning of stats recent or historically and they actually talk about what is going on in front of their eyes so they see what we all can see .
Could you imagine any two of Tyler Smith Neville commentating all they would have been droning on about would be what is happening off the pitch . I found it so refreshing .

Wonder what’s going on inside Mourinho’s head right now.

for sure he’s mind-f*cking himself to think that this was his victory

Neville is a great pundit but pisses me off when he talks about Man Utd players on first name terms like Bruno.. as if we are all man utd supporters
