Whoever replaces Jose (when that happens), I hope it would be someone who will drop any players that are not good enough or who are constantly underperforming.

To inject positivity into the thread I would like to point out that we have city to play very soon, what in all honesty can go wrong and then a final against them.

If we are to sack Mou, the first thing Levy needs to do is hire a DoF and decide on the playing style. Are we gonna be a pressing team aka poch ball or are we gonna be low block counter attack mou ball or a mix between both depending on our opponents. Also Levy needs to fuck off from the footballing side of things. We need to get rid of deadwood even if it means selling them at a loss. Of course all of this is easier said than done cause of COVID and the fact that the club's name is Tottenham.

That’s what Jose has done but it seems to have upset the poor darlings so now they’ve downed tools. We need a manager that’s going to let the players do what they want or they’ll down tools again.

It doesn't work like that. Had Dier not given away the pen, the entire game would have gone in a different direction (of which we most certainly would have lost). We may have lost 3-0. The game was clearly not a tie. While Chelsea were not especially great, they were still FAR superior to us - that's how bad we were.
Yes we may have lost 3-0 or we may have had more chances when they pushed up and won 1-0.

Mendy made the same number of saves as Lloris (1)
and they couldn't score in open play.
We donated the goal.
Vinicius should have levelled it at the end.

Not arguing we were any good
but Chelsea weren't a whole lot better
Neither side top four.
But they took the positive step
of changing their Manager in good time.

I know this is incredibly menial in the grand scheme of things, given what’s happening to us right now, but has our victory against Chelsea in this season’s League Cup been erased from history?

First BT last night, now Sky...

I see a lot of posts talking about average players. I disagree. They are simply asked to play in a way that is beyond them. The manager can do one of two things:

1. Stick to his preferred system regardless of the impossibility of the task
2. Create a system that plays into his players' strengths.

Sadly Jose has opted for the former. Now we did beat United, Arsenal, City with that system, but unlike us, the league has adapted and nullify any threat that we have to offer.

Secondly, the system we have requires the attacking element to basically have a 100% scoring rate, because they will not get more than 2-3 opportunities during a game. That sort of pressure in front of goal would cripple most players, even above average ones.

So some of the players who aren't average couldn't carry out Pochs bidding before he got sacked (philosophy one) and now they can't carry out Mourinho's bidding (philosophy two)

Not sure what else we can expect of them then, which perhaps means, they are average ...

Dear Dr Tottenham,
Please can you help my husband ? He is 55 years old today and been a Spurs supporter since he was 8. Season ticket holder for 20 years. He used to annoy me when he watched matches on TV, shouting and swearing, but now just sits there laughing manically at Diers defending, Auriers control, Mouras shooting and don’t even mention Sissokos passing. He seems to have lost a lifetimes love of the game in 2 months. Please can you help me get my old swearing shouting belligerent husband back ?

THIS all over, my mrs said to me last night, you're quiet seeing as they aren't playing well, and i just replied cos its the same every game now, almost a level of acceptance before the game has started.

The buck always stops with the guy earning 15mil a year to get them winning. If his system is executable only by an elite few, then it's simply nonsense.
And don't go back to Poch. He changed his own system before his downfall. We stopped pressing and started sitting deeper. When they were presented with a proactive system, the players thrived. When he held them back, they failed.

And it's the same story here.

Thanks for confirming my point.
