On reflection we did better than I thought last night and had 3 gilt edged chances to bury them ,was expecting the usual vitriol from bindipper work mates but they were quite reserved with a sense of they got away with one .

I feel Kane was being pulled from behind
It's called a reacharound. This became popular on SC when one of the mods started offering to perform them in exchange for donations toward the upkeep of the site. Sadly, such services are no longer offered since he retired in disgrace after video emerged of him taking a shit in his bosses shoes

You're looking at it the wrong way.

Lucas, Bergwijn, Kane and Son on the pitch all at the same time was done to push Liverpool back and keep them honest defensively.

Unfortunately Lucas didn't do so great. We do however need another CM

I still don’t get why we didn’t have Vinicius on the bench. He’d of been better to bring on than Lucas, just like the Palace game. There must be an off pitch issue that’s causing it. Maybe he’s struggling with living in England or something but somethings not right.

Just thinking about how they celebrated. Firmino running down to the other end. I switched it off as it was fuming. But shows how much they know that goal was huge.

Thinking more about it, did all the Liverpool players run with him? Could we have potentially kicked off quickly while their backs were turned if they were all in their own half? I'm asking because I'm assuming they weren't in their own half. Or was it because of the VAR check we couldn't have done.

I think it’s because they feel that the goal took them clear at the top of the league and like last season they think they will pull away. But it isn’t last season. They need a defeat soon though and I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened at Palace.

The better team on the night won it. Fully worth the victory.

24% possession and 2 shots on target for Spurs. Only managed a pass every 40 seconds or so and even with the that they only found their man three out of five attempts.

Yet we created more clear cut chances and had a higher XG. No offence but I hate comments like this that look at possession and shots as some sort of validation for or against. It's very basic

I mean Jose asked for that. Funny if you ask me
What was so controversial about Mourinho's comments? The usual fans looking at a game and saying 'dominated possession, had more shots on target so must have been the better side.' Most of those shots on target were pea rollers or routine stops for Lloris. For me they had two clear cut chances all game, the Salah chance in the first half after a Robertson cross from the left and Mane's strike at the bar in the second half. We probably had 3 big chances and another opportunity from Bergwijn very early in the second half that he maybe could have done better with, we scored from 1.

If you want an example to show the opposite, our 2-0 win against Man City (last season) was incredibly lucky. We barely had a sniff, scoring two worldies with Lloris being the busiest player on the pitch.

Yeah, that's a foul.

It's not that Henderson's nudge is a heavy shove, it's the fact that it distracts Dier at the exact moment that Firmino starts his run.

This gives Firmino that 2ft head start on Dier, as he speeds toward the 6 yard box.

So Dier has to make a decision; does he stand up and chase Firmino, and probably not catch him, or does he signal to the officials that he's been fouled, by going down.

Tbh I think he made the right decision. If he had have chased after Firmino, he wouldn't have caught him, Firmino would have scored and no one would be talking about the foul on Dier. We'd just be saying that Dier lost his man.

Small margins at the elite level, so it's deeply frustrating that VAR didn't pick it up.

Sorry that is a massive dive. You might get it but no way does that send Dier over. He is nudged in the back and somehow dives backwards, and hope VAR will save him. It didn’t. At the very least we can’t moan as our defenders, particularly Dier, do that stuff at every corner

They had their usual large dollop of good fortune. Nothing surprising about that. They fluffed a bunch of chances just like we did, but the deciding factor was the deflection for their first goal which went in by inches. A draw would have been fair.

Our mentality has improved with Mourinho on board but we're conceding goals late. I think we've lost 7 points and also conceded 7 goals in the last stage of the game. That need to be sorted if we're gonna win the title this season.

Liverpool have a way if getting under your skin and when they get it right they simply win. Yes they show arrogance and are proud of it, thats what makes them a successful club (Chelsea are another) . We need to learn form this and quickly. Last night we were so close to getting a great result the best way we could but Liverpool will do whatever it takes and success mostly follows. They mugged us off with the goal after all the good work we did by not reacting to the games they play on and off the pitch.

We should also remember Liverpool are the current champions and this is not by a fluke. It's taken approximately five years for Klopp to build that side and the final part was buying Alison and van Dijk. Before those two arrived they were a little like we are right now so I'd say Mourinho has done a great job in his first year.

Klopp was animated because he knew that was going to be their hardest game this season and he knew that it could have gone either way. Sure they had all the possession and pretty football but they scored from a deflection and set piece. They never ripped us apart. As we all know the best chances in the game actually fell to us and as the old saying goes....."On another day...."

All I would say to Liverpool is don't get too cocky too soon as they have to come to our place at the end of January 2021.

Sadly I feel like last night may be season defining in terms of the title. I know its only 3 points and we played fairly well (in the 2nd half), but I reckon they will run away with it now. Was just a massive moment psychologically. Really need to just get ourselves focused and make sure we get top 4 and a cup which would be a fantastic season.

Fine margins.

For once we didn't take our chances. It was another game where the "stat padding" makes it look like we got out of jail, when the reality is that the way we played created the better chances. On another day we take at least one of them and likely win the game.

Fine margins.

They've won the battle, the War is far from over. Now we need to go on an absolutely ruthless run of wins. Apply pressure and wait for them to crack, then pounce.

Last season they had zero pressure from challengers, the season before it was them applying the pressure. This season we need to be keeping that pressure on as they've yet to experience that.

I see some on here virtually conceding the league already, well fuck that! We've gone to their place and, bar a fair bit of luck going their way, we take 3 points when, by their own Captain's admission, it's the best they've played this season.

We haven't even hit our straps yet.

We MIGHT not win the league, but by Christ I believe we will.

I want to point out that Curtis Jones really impressed me last night. A big game like that and he was probably one of the best players out there. Give credit when credit is due imo
