The thing is, Winks got the the ball and put it on a plate for Lanzini in area where its possible to have a shot. Even IF he missed the hoof on the initial action(which really anyone who tries to say he would have made it isnt fooling themselves because they dont know whatsoever what would have happened), the west ham player had no angle to shoot. I know which id rather.
Lol

I don't want to make him the scapegoat for today, but we probably don't draw this game if we don't take NDombele off and bring him on.

He and Sissoko should NEVER be on the pitch at the same time in any situation.

Okay bud.
Former Premiership players agree with me that Winks did well to win the ball. No single pundit has questioned why Winks didn’t just clear it.
But you know better. Top stuff

lol
Your ex PL pundits are fucking idiots and really many of them have no business being remotely close to a microphone or a camera. All you people do on here is rip them apart and for very good reason. But now that they agree with you, there smart? Lol just stop. You’re making yourself look silly.

I understand your feelings and frustrations but I guarantee you - Winks is not at fault for that phase of play.

slay him for other things but if he’d try to hoof clear it the West Ham player gets the ball first. Guaranteed

He fucking was at fault. I Love him, but he could of cleared that ball.

Trying to tell people that he couldnt is absolute bollox mate.

As timberwolf says, he doesn't need to take a massive swipe at it.

I don't know how I suddenly became President of the Harry Winks fan club here becuase I'm not.

I just know bullshit scapegoating from people who don't know what they're fucking talking about.

Maybe Winks was in the wrong position when that second ball 50/50 arrived I don't know - what I DO know (and former premiership footballers agree) is that he never had the option to just hoof it out. He won a very tight 50/50 and got unlucky that Lanzini hit a fluke.

Blame him for stuff but you look fucking ludicrous for blaming him for this. He's Harry Winks - he can't transcend the laws of biology and physics ffs. :shifty:

Do you believe everything ex pros and pundits say? Just because they’ve played the game? Or shall I trot out some of the mousse shit they pedal weekly?

I disagree.

And so far I've not heard anyone whose played the game at the highest level suggest he made a defensive error - either of action or choice - in that phase of play.

He has only one option - to try and nick it. which he does effectively. Maybe he could and should have been there earlier? I don't know. What i do know is that if he takes .00001 of a second longer to draw his leg back for power the West Ham player gets there first.

Souness was blaming Lloris for the goal ffs. He never mentioned Winks. Nobody has except the resident experts on SC...

Laughable

I believe they have a slightly more nuanced understanding of the realities of the game than you, yes. Especially when that conforms with my understanding of the laws of physics.

Sorry if that upsets your desire to find catharsis from this result by slaying Harry Winks..

Why do you keep banging on about pundits? I can tell with my own eyes he could of cleared it.

Souness? Don't make me laugh. That guy is a dinosaur that Sky need to remove.

Paul Merson said Kane wouldn't score goals in a Mouriho team...

Fucking state of it lol. Aye the pundits always know what they're talking about.

not slaying him at all. He was to blame for the goal (regardless of what you and your ex pro buddies say). When he came on he adds nothing.

like I said earlier. Nice kid, one of our own etc but he isn’t up to it. Sorry Mr Winks. Go tuck Harry in. ?

2 ex players didn't think so. TWO. One of which is Danny Murphy. Who are these legions of ex-players you are talking about? Have you been watching 6 channels simultaneously? Does Danny Murphy represent every footballer ever to have played the game?

It's a bad argument as former players talk nonsense all the time.

Because it's blindingly obvious to anyone who understands football; biology and physics that he COULDN'T HAVE JUT HOOFED IT.

I refer to the very very many pundits who have opined on our collapse because NOT ONE SINGLE EX PLAYER HAS SUGGESTED HE SHOULD HAVE.

Jesus Christ - do you see fucking pattern here? Do you not think someone commenting on the game might have just mentioned that we would have won but for an horrendous defensive decision by WInks?

Are you not asking yourself why?

This is so toe-curlingly embarrassing.

It's a bad argument and ex-players talk nonsense all the time.

Show me one pundit who has highlighted Winks catastrophic error that gifted the game to West Ham.

It would be noted wouldn't it? I mean it's so obvious to you - surely the papers will be screaming about this catastrophic defensive blunder?

Well?

All I’ll say is you don’t win the league with a Sissoko Winks midfield. I would hope I’m made to eat my words but you either have one or the other.
Each time we have look turgid, uninspiring and devoid of any cohesion is when these two have been the midfield mainstays. For whatever reason he has stagnated, he’s not dynamic, doesn’t carry a goal threat, doesnt read the game well etc. It’s a shame as he had so much promise.

Well?
I'll send out the questionnaire this evening.

I'll let you know when I get the results.

No issues with Winks on the third goal.

Actually though for the second goal, history just repeated itself, we have seen it on loads of occasions, and have conceded goals and penalties before due to it.
Winks is in effect is just standing watching for long time the winger playing tricks against full back, instead of helping full back, he is just marking space, not cutting out channels, basically just in no-mans land observing. If he had gone to help chances are cross would not have come in for Sanchez to score

I like the lad, but he looks more like a West Brom midfielder than a Spurs midfielder these days. Ah well, we will keep him around as squad player I guess.

This, at least, has the merit of having a basis in football reality.

And i'd agree that a weakness of his - how much of it is coaching? I don't know. But Jose seems happy enough.
