Maybe Rodon is the guy to fill in with Foyth being gone and then Skriniar for Toby either in January/next Summer? If that came to fruition, it'd just be Sanchez, Dier, Skriniar, Tanganga and Rodon. It may be a bit bloated still, but I think that's a good group when you consider the versatility of Tanganga and Dier.

That'd be fucking ridiculously awesome wouldn't it.

I know nothing of him but he seems to be highly rated. Said in the Mepham thread, if we have to get a centre back but can’t get one of Skriniar level then I’d far prefer to invest in potential than sign someone who has hit a ceiling that isn’t an improvement on what we have.

Wouldn't be surprised if Jack Clarke went there on loan as part of any deal.
We get on well with Swansea and they've sold a winger today

We always complain that we didn't take a gamble on players like Maddison, Grealish etc when they were young and available at a decent price in the Championship before coming into the PL and becoming unaffordable, so personally I'm all for this kind of signing even though I can confess to never watching him play.

My ideal scenario would be Rodon in now and Sanchez to be swapped for Skriniar next summer. Think he’s our most valuable CB, but coincidentally our worst defender...

Would be a good move, Cooper seems to do well with youngsters.

Where the hell did this come from? I go offline for a couple of hours and when I come back we've got a whole new thread on our new CB I've never heard of before?
From what I gather this Rodon is in the football league so we don't have to buy him for a week or so, so we probably won't.

If you watch his latest videos, it seems he now thinks Doherty is not homegrown in EL.
Doherty is homegrown for UEFA purposes, association trained obviously:

42.05
An "association-trained player" is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which the player turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with a club or with other clubs affiliated to the same association as that of his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match of the relevant national championship and ending with the last official match of that relevant national championship) or of 36 months. In the context of this paragraph, the season immediately preceding a player’s 15th birthday may be counted if his birthday is after the last match of the relevant national championship but before or on 30 June (winter championships) or 31 December (summer championships), and the season immediately following his 21st birthday may be counted if his birthday is on or after 1 July (winter championships) or 1 January (summer championships) but before the first match of the relevant national championship.

Doherty had completed three full seasons at wolves by the end of the season in which he turned twenty one.

The last part is probably the reason for this.

Or he was waiting for the right move. Kid was Swans from birth and season ticket holder. Loves playing for them. Would you leave your childhood club for relegation fodder when chances are strong you would be back in the same division as your childhood team within a year?

JR and Oli McBurnie in the away end last year. Few mates were there and said they were great craic.

I don't see the point of signing a player for the sake of it.
How many games will he play? Is he better than what we have?

If we want to go back in for Skriniar in January, then paying up to £18m for Rodon would make it unlikely. Unless we are selling another centre back, then i'm not sure we will go for another defender until next summer at the earliest.

Guessing if this is a 'thing' that it likely will drag out until the end of the EFL window.
Which would be stupid because we have to have our EL squad finalized tomorrow I believe.

Makes sense being after another CB as Tanganga seems like he is always injured.

Did we know who Dele was before he joined? Players in the lower domestic leagues are great pieces of business imo. Look at Watkins, I know many of us wanted him as our striker this summer, me included for a while. I was ecstatic when we were linked with Benrahma. Bowen frankly was a steal for west ham, he's fantastic. Robertson was relegated. So were Godfrey, Aarons, Lewis, Buendia, Cantwell, Sarr, Doucoure, Wilson, Brooks, Ake, etc. I know some of these performed in the prem, but the point is I don't really think playing at a certain level/being at a club in a worse league should heavily affect our opinions of a player. Especially when they move to a top level club with numerous top players like ours. You see quality players look worse when surrounded by worse players. And players rise up when surrounded by great players. What I saw of Rodon was a player who dominated against the competition he was up against. I'm all for these types of signings before they become Grealish, Maddison, etc.
