Great, you get it. But...Dude, it also depends on public awareness too. If they know then you actually gain more releasing news and then pictures and then interviews and so on as you get the immediate hit and a much longer continuous wave of wanting more content. It's elongating that wave that is key. The first thing they should have done was confirm without confirming so everyone goes mental. And then gone nostalgic with longer content. It's about controlling sentiment. Imagine if they teased a player standing by an empty locker...
Absolutely spot on pal. Which is why I left. Because commoners like you and I wouldn't understand.Yeah nobody cares about PR other than the PR industry itself.
It’s very indirect though... manufacturers aren’t idiots, if Bale isn’t here when the next shirt contract gets negotiated, they’ll factor that in. Sure, if bale allows us to attract other superstars that can sell massive short numbers maybe that help, but it’s very indirect. And most people who will get a bale shirt will have bought a shirt anyway. Morgan may end up selling more shirts as she’ll bring in people who wouldn’t have before (heard loads of dads in US saying they were getting their girls Morgan shirts instead of man city).Which means more money when the next deal is to be negotiated.
Money wont be made back straight away no, but its the numbers that the kit manufacturers want to see and in the long run, will end up more lucrative for us.
That's a solid point. Reguilon has nothing to do with any medically that some of you are pissing your shorts over. This could be as simple as not wanting to disturb a large segment of our fans on Rosh Hashanah. You can't call yourself yids and then disrespect a high holy day. Announcement Saturday at sundown!Maybe still doing pr stuff because it’s two players and also Alex Morgan. If there was an issue medically surely they still would of announced Reguilon right?
Pissed the bed and woke up crying?Morning everyone
Slept like a baby. Everyone ready for the announcement?!
As you don’t know any more than I do what the issue is, it is pretty presumptive for you to state that they’ve fucked this up. I’m pretty sure the club has a pretty good idea what is in their best interests marketing wise (if not always on the pitch). Indeed, this area appears to the club’s forte in recent years. So, I’m going out on a limb and will trust the club’s judgment re a marketing decision (if that’s what it indeed is) rather than an impatient fan’s assumptions re when to announce a signing. Some of you can be cool and pragmatic about announcing whenever the club feels like it, but for anyone in the PR or journalistic industry can allude to, there is no bigger news value and media traction garnered if the hype of Bale is not followed up with a final announcement after 2 days of media frenzy on his return, especially when that broke on so quickly and materialised.
Striking while the iron is hot is an opportunistic move for media practitioners that can almost guarantee huge returns. The stars have finally aligned again after 7 years, but there is no riding on that wave and instead allowing the interest to cool slightly, the club has fucked it up quite abit TBH in this PR manoevre.
And really, this isn't about fans being spoilt brats or throwing toys out the pram whatsoever. It is really an expectation most would expect the club to be doing if the business-running aspect is being held to such high standard in so many shapes and forms of the club operation.
Unfortunately some people only get by in life by trying to find fault in everything and anything - as you said - I’m sure the club know what they want to achieve in the marketing campaign ?As you don’t know any more than I do what the issue is, it is pretty presumptive for you to state that they’ve fucked this up. I’m pretty sure the club has a pretty good idea what is in their best interests marketing wise (if not always on the pitch). Indeed, this area appears to the club’s forte in recent years.
