Davies is a good footballer and was great as a cover for a top 4 team fighting on 4 fronts. As a starting 11 and then someone of less ability behind him? Well your team is only going to be worse.
Just a shame we didn't replace our top quality players when they left and we were actually in the top 4, instead of now when we're playing catch up.
Better late than never I suppose.
The onus was on who then? Poch or Levy or Hitchen or then Mitchell or the scouts? I don't understand this point, because if we traced back, Levy did spend, and he still spends, IF he's convinced the deals are worthy. But just looking at this list will give a very clear view how underwhelming majority of the players signed during Poch reign were and their impact:

On hindsight, with now the imminent arrival of Bale and Reguilon, was it really a case of not replacing the players OR no good identification of replacements? We still have more than 2 weeks of window left, and amidst the Covid19 situation when budget are deemed so tight, our arrivals and some ITKs so far seem to point very clearly as time passes that it is the latter.

Most important they are signed and sealed before our match tonight.

The chances a player steps back after seeing us play or Levy avoid spending money after being kicked out ouf Europe are there.

CONSIDER THIS 4 -3 - 3

Lloris
Doherty - Toby - Dier/Sanchez - Requilon
Ndombele - PEH - Lo Celso
Bale - Kane - Sonny

GOOD LAWD

To me that looks like the best team we've had in decades

I think 4-2-3-1 is more likely though:

Lloris
Doherty--Toby--Sanchez--Reguilon
Hojbjerg--Lo Celso
Bale--Alli--Son
Kane
Hell of a good 2nd 11 too:
Hart
Aurier--Dier--Tanganga--Davies
Winks--Sissoko
Moura--Ndombele--Bergwijn
Lamela

Alasdair will have been on the phone to the press office and got the word so I imagine he's right here, even it if would make more sense to announce Reguilon today. But anyway. They must be planning something for the vid!

Still cannot believe we almost have this guy. What a talent and could have picked any decent club in Europe. From nowhere, snapped up. Here I was thinkign we'll use Davies, Sess, Cirkin, Tanganga etc... Wow

The team and squad is getting there and has the tools to be an entertaining and effective team. The question is will Jose allow that and enable that? only time will tell...

He is such an unexpected upgrade. The type of opportunist signing we need to make when they present themselves.

Should really aim to make these signings every time they present themselves. Bergwijn & Reguilon are great signings and were big upgrades to what we had.

Would have thought we'd announce Reguilon today to leave tomorrow free for Bale ... but it doesn't really matter when it's announced as long as he's ours ?
Maybe we want announce both by Reguilon reading his tweets about Bale

That would be quite good, actually - but I do think they'll go with a more epic Bale, Spurs hero homecoming type video rather than a comedic one.

I think there is special dispensation for elite athletes, but I might be wrong. That Pervis has just gone straight from Watford to Villareal, so I don't think it's the same as Doris the receptionist coming back from Benidorm

Gabriel at Arsenal, Rodrigo at Leeds both had to quarantine for 2 weeks.

James Rodriguez didn't but purely because he had been in Portugal for previous 2 weeks, not Madrid.

They were able to get special dispensation for them to be able to train at club, but away from rest of team, and would be easy for us to do same as we have hotel on site anyways.

It is only when you are in the team isolation bubble that the elite athlete exemption comes into play, which they can't join until they have completed quarantine.

It’s mad that our 2nd 11 there, is nearly what our first 11 was last season. And if we are adding a new striker and possible another midfielder, then wow, that IS a MAJOR overhaul of the team, and surely shows the likes of Kane our ambition. Amazing.
