This is exactly the opposite of what United is really doing with Sancho deal right now. Or even Bruno last summer

But they still got Bruno in the end and maybe they'll still get Sancho, or if not, they'll probably get someone else with a high profile. I'm not saying they'll snap their fingers and get said players instantly, but the intent is there and unlike us you actually feel like eventually they'll get what they need, in one form or another.

This guy is the JJ of Madrid apparently so make of this what you will, basically translates to both clubs have been given permission to speak to the player, it is clear that Levy has himself spoke to Bale.

I wonder if this is what Trix kind of eluded 2 with Real and Bale being good 2 go but Levy kinda being slow and steady with negotiating this out

Gareth: Hi Daniel, glad to finally get you on the phone. I’ve just had a very productive chat with Florentino and he said he’d cover half my salary meaning you only need to pay 300k/week

Levy:

We aren’t getting him guys. We’re ending this window with a deadline day capture of Troy Deeney on a one year loan with option to make permanent, which frankly is all we deserve.

Based on ITK and various news reports, it appears that we do have a bunch of players we are interested in at different values, different levels of quality and we are doing the legwork on all players in order to move quickly if/when we want to trigger a bid.

From Dragons, Trix, Hercules, etc it sounds to me, that we have interest in players and are broken down in priority of preference but also the scenarios that need to happen for us to move from an interested, status to making a concrete offer i.e.

Priority/Scenario 1: Buy Top Striker target - Expensive (Daka, Edouard, Milik and co)
- Prerequisite: Selling one or more of our asset(s) to raise £30 million or whatever funds needed. eg. Ndombele

Priority/Scenario 2: Get a striker with least impact to Summer funds i.e. Vinicius to give us options to improve other areas without the need to sell.
- Benfica agreeing for us to send Gedson back from his loan and instead using the agreed transfer fee (£56million) and negotiate this fee to be used for Vinicius instead at a lower price, or include additional player (Tomas Tavares) in order to strike a deal for Vinicius and Tavares to equate to £56million. The transfer fee for Gedson would have already been included in our accounts due to the financing having to be arranged, which would mean doing this deal would not effect whatever funds we have available for this window.

Priority/Scenario 3: Buy Bale and Cheaper valued striker (Diallo, Sørloth and co)
- Prerequisite: If we managed to buy Bale, making sure we can still get a striker but at lower value

Priority/Scenario 4: Double deal with Madrid for Bale and Reguilon or just a deal with Reguilon
- In order to still get a striker if a Non-Homegrown spot is taking up with purchase of one in another spot i.e. Reguilon, we look to do a deal for a Homegrown striker

So the reason why we are hearing different reports from media and ITK everyday, is because we are speaking to multipe agents and clubs, and putting the feelers out in order to rule in/out the player from a target, and also for when our preferred option happens or confirmed not to happen, we can then move quicker in the transfer process due to these already had discussions/negotiations.

Creative I know, but that is how business works in order to have plan A, B, C to H to cover all possible outcomes and get the maximum benefit for the squad and clubs finances.

If we were seriously negotiating for Bale the press would be reporting such by now.

Obviously there has been those 'feel it out' chats behind the scenes but that's all I expect them to be.

Not to mention are name being used by agents even more than usual!

But it doesn’t feel like united hold any serious interest and they’ve been linked multiple times

Don't really believe that would be the case with this transfer. It's probably more complicated and would likely hit the press when a deal is almost done.

It’s all going to end in tears whether we sign him or not. It’s lose lose.
