Watched all three this morning and thoroughly enjoyed them. After watching Jose discuss regret and unfulfilled potential with Dele I’ve been having a real long look at myself in the mirror and realised that I’ve wasted the past twenty years in my job. Thanks Jose. ?

Mentality, Mentality, Mentality.

A football club that is run properly will never show everything, especially given the circumstances, there will always be a filter.

F1 Drive To Survive is fantastic because the access they have is incredible and the nature of the sport makes it a perfect fit for a behind the scenes look. It's also produced in such a way that casual viewers can be entertained and actual fans also get something from it.

Also it's fascinating to see the insides of the training center. Jose's office, the dining room, etc. And that they do have sports shows on tv often.

Oh no doubt. He’s constantly looking around when training etc. “The silent leader” as José calls him, through application and example.

It’s something he’s obviously trying to work on, so maybe cringeworthy is too far. He isn’t a natural, let’s put it that way. “Fucking fucking fucking let’s win” wouldn’t motivate me very much
Honestly don’t know what people expect him to say? He’ll be having to do a mini speech during the warm up and pre game and sometimes half time and after the game, I can’t remember them all but one of them he said something like right lads big game today, we need the 3 points, let’s f get after them, it’s a London derby so let’s f go and win. I’d say that’s pretty much spot on all you need to say as a captain in most matches. Obviously if it’s a cup semi final or a game to win you a title or a 6 pointer against your closest rival with 3 games to go the speech might be slightly different but most of these games were early on in the season.

Id question if you and others who are saying a similar thing about his speeches have played football at all or at least to some sort of good standard as honestly what else do you expect him to say.

His speeches would motivate me just fine and I’m sure they do the same for our current squad. Also when he’s doing them the manager and AM will have just given tactical and motivational briefings so he needs to keep it fairly short and to the point to not overload the team with tons of info.

Most the players said that half time in the Ajax game CL semi final that it was Kane more so than Poch who motivated them all with his speech.

Also in episode 1 @ 41:36 where Jose is having a team meeting there is a projection of his MacBook screen behind him. Is that a FM20 icon on the bottom of the screen? I can't screenshot it but I'm sure it is.

I thought Paul Mitchell and his transfer target search engine had gone?

I think critical leadership by players are done on the training grounds - mostly one on one. Like if a player is struggling, one of the leaders should (and probably do) talk with that player. Get the player through so they can move forward. Doubt all the rah rah stuff during the games have much of an impact.

Watched all 3 episodes before lunchtime.

Reminiscent of the time, 48yrs ago, when I waited outside my local bookshop to pick up my pre-ordered copy of 'the Glory Game' and had it read by tea time.

Before my time, but it‘s such a good book. Definitely Italy worth a read while people are waiting for other episodes of this to come out if they haven’t had the pleasure yet.

Finished the 3 episodes...

Aurier talking about himself & his difficult childhood. In hindsight losing his brother to similar situation end of season, should make it very difficult for him to view his own content. Regardless he came across well. Also, nice to see him redeeming himself with that Olympiokos goal after the half time talk.

Things of note :
  1. Jose saying Sky pundit to fuck off. His dislike for United seems more than Chelsea
  2. Jose saying to Kane, Spurs have a better players than United. Probably when he was at United it was true. Now situation is changing slowly with their new additions.
  3. Jose shocked to hear Sissoko is the most influential player in squad. And kudos for Sacremento to know that quickly.
  4. Lo Celso on his headphone most times, seems very private person.
  5. Ndombele eating most times when he is not playing.
  6. Casual Dele: joking most times, even with the very important discussion on whether to dip in brush with paste in water or not.
  7. Lack of coverage on injured players like Lamela or Lloris
  8. Chelsea loss : If Jose sells Gazaniga can see why... probably due to that Chelsea game

Ive just realised why Kane seems out of place with his talks, it's because he is the only one who talks.

There was one teamtalk (think it was when we played against red star at HT) it was complete silence. That is disgraceful.

Toby, verts, eriksen, son in fact our whole squad are just so quiet. We would never win anything with that type of dressing room.

Most of these are edited-so its difficult to say who talked or how they talked. So, shouldn't jump to conclusions. Having said, agree that most experienced are silent types

Its plain to see why Jose signed Hojbjerg & Hart

Any fly on the wall doc is offering the idea that if the cameras are around for long enough people forget they're there and start to act naturally. Maybe that will happen as the series moves through the season and people start to let their guard down.

I have been in a fly on the wall doc. Cameras were around for only a few weeks. After an hour or two I didn't even notice them anymore. Was shocked when I watched the doc and saw myself.

I think talk of staged moments are way off the mark. Sanitised and edited? Yes of course.

I really enjoyed the first 3 eps. Wouldn't have known how else some would want TBH. For someone like Mourinho who is just so charming and eloquent at the club, his soundbites would be undeniably the most interesting to make it into the final cut.

It could have been staged, but I don't think much were scripted. Probably just a few takes of different response and edited in with the best context. Cringeworthy maybe, but Levy and the execs showed exactly why they are in ties and suits. I loved especially those snippets like how one of the exec was telling Levy how well he had kept the approaching of Mourinho and preparation of the appointment so low profile and silent that things only unveiled after Poch was sacked. Cunning.

I somehow have the feeling Verts already made up his mind or knew he won't be around end of season. He spoke with so much fondness and loving memories and he definitely savored this chance in sort of bidding his farewell in this documentary.. He really loves us.. ?

Serge maybe joking around, but I also somehow feel he's quite dedicated when was required of him. I'm now more open for him to stay with us if he couldn't move to Milan. Should still have some improvement to be seen in him as he matures further, providing good competition to Doherty.

The assistants to Mourinho are also an interesting aspect as it gave us a deeper insights into how they work with the team and their actual involvements. I would assume each of them could be sort of attached to different group of players in gathering their feedback and state of minds and report back to Mourinho for assessment. And they are actually very vocal too in rousing the lads in the dressing room - great to see.

Overall there are so many points that one could pick and relate to what had happened, now on hindsight, to bring us another perspective look into the season, that also proved to us how wrong some of us had been in saying this and seeing that. Although this documentary may not be the entire truth, but I'm surprised, at least for me personally, how much further away from the truth were we by just seeing matches, watching pressers and reading reports from journalists.

Does anyone know what Jose said to Aurier in the training Clip? Sounded like “Ey Serge what the f is that?” And he replied “its personal” was he talking about his beanie hat or something else ?‍♂️Seemed to be a reference to something he was wearing but I couldn’t really work it out tbh

I assumed this but it really isn't at all. Re-affirmed my passion for the club actually.

Watched it now. God help me, but I actually LIKE Mourinho.

Felt dirty afterwards, and had to have an immediate shower.

"but who will cover me when I attack?" "Eriksen will cover you". Camera pans to a terrified Eriksen who knows he has no intention of defending. Loved that scene.
