Whilst I somewhat agree, you have come to the Pochettino thread so I’m not 100% sure what you were expecting
Maybe he was hoping to read up on Maurizio?

The whole transfer window is full of weird and unhealthy fixations about players who have never and will never even end up playing for the club. I think a thread on one of the finest managers most Spurs fans have ever experienced isn’t that strange up against that.
This thread reminds me of this room/guy.
While we're on the subject, please could @E17yid's account be deleted? He cracked a very hurtful joke about me having a Timothy Olyphant poster above my bed [it's clearly a David Bateson poster] and I would honestly appreciate it if he couldn't log into this place. Thank you.
Ha ha, fair play the Alan Partridge photo/reference that @Gb160 posted was funny.hmm...
Only because they had to be moved because they were dominating the ‘Spurs’ site.Which is why those threads aren't in Spurs Chat, one would assume
Koeman sounds completely the wrong fit. But happy Poch didn't go. I think he shouldn't be going back on his word. Also, probably a bad move for his career. I think he should push for the inter job if/when it becomes available.
Yeah Dragon was wrong
Probably notOr Poch was approached, the barca board leaked his name to the press, the supporters let their feelings about Poch be known so the barca board turned their attention to Koeman.
New opinion on Poch and Barca. If you lose to Bayern 8-2 and sack your manager, can you really replace him with the guy who lost his job losing to Bayern 7-2?

If the players weren't keen on Poch because they didn't think he has achieved enough, I don't see why they would be keen on Koeman who has achieved even less as a manager if anything.
Explayer though isn’t he. Probably why they’ve gone for him. Plus the current directors are expected to be replaced at the next elections next year so maybe they aren’t too bothered and have gone for the cheaper option.
Keeps the fans happy / happier. More than an ex Espanyol player would.I know he's an ex player but I think that gets blown out if proportion. Half the players presumably arent boyhood Barca fans and even if they were would hardly remember Koeman as a player.
I suspect you're probably right with the latter, just using him as a cheap temporary option to tide them over.

So what you're saying is... We're going to sign Messi?Koeman is Barca's Moyes, he's there to take all the criticism for a year while Barca try to get their shit together. Then in a year or so, when the dust has settled and (they hope) they've sorted out their boardroom issues and reinvigorated their ageing squad, they can quietly bin Koeman off and give Xavi the reins in a situation where he might have a chance of doing a decent job. There would be no point in giving the job to their ideal candidate at the moment, because the club is a mess and he wouldn't have a chance of succeeding.
As mad as it sounds, I think Messi going might actually be best for all parties now. Their current situation is at least partly due to an over-reliance on Messi that has become ridiculous as the years have passed and, as good as he still is (IMO still the best in the world, as he has been every single year for over a decade), he won't be around forever and that transition will need to be made. Lumping that problem in with the rest of their current issues might make the transition easier in the long run, rather than sorting out all their other problems, getting back on their feet and then having to replace a player and a figurehead like him in a couple of years.
