I think a window open from Aug 1 to Sept 30 would be pretty good. It will be a weird window with only the play thing clubs with owners that have endless wads of money will be active. Every other club, run as a business, will be impacted by the economy. So, i imagine there won't be a huge amount of movement, with more of a focus on loans, swaps and free transfers. For example, i can't see Spurs spending more than 10m in terms of net spend. But they won't be alone. Most will be in the same boat. But I still think we will see some wheeling and dealing.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Hopefully that is where the Mourinho factor will help in that he will be a draw for some players and/or he might attract players that he's worked with before.

Has nobody told you? What attracts players is whatever we don’t have, be it money, CL football, a superstar manager, etc.

or because we do have, er, Kane
He’s not gonna come just to sit on the bench

or my personal fave of many on here- who is he going to displace in our first XI?

The lack of actual itk is very worrying in regards to the window ahead! I mean surely things would be going on behind the scenes already in regards to transfers already seeing teams signing people

Could be wrong, but i think CL qualification may not carry quite as much weight next season, compared to previous seasons. The impact of Covid shouldn't be downplayed. I'd imagine a lot of players aren't thrilled with the idea of traveling over the next year, until a solid vaccine is in place. Also a small part of CL allure is playing games in famous stadiums, in front of rabid fans. Playing in empty stadiums probably doesn't seem that appealing.

It's a time of unprecedented upheaval.

I'm not surprised communication channels are disrupted.

I remember an article from a few years back that said that most of the transfer discussion was done via whatsapp. So although there will be less overall activity there must have been a load of chat with every one locked down with nothing else to do.

Why worrying? No more chance encounters with chairmen and managers in chain restaurants (happened to me with Milan Mandaric and Alain Perrin) or mixing in a pub listening to gossip

Or no-one knows what competitions in Europe we will play and when fans will be back in stadium. Also, looking for Bergwijn and Gedson seems like Mourinho camp is keeping close our transfer news.

I wouldn’t worry about UCL being a factor in a players decision. We have been in the competition for the past 4 seasons and it hasn’t done us much good. The only player that maybe swayed it was Ndombele.

I’d take an excellent scouting system over a big pot of money. There’s always talent out there that can be discovered

True, but in a post-Brexit world it may be very difficult to get highly promising young players permission to play in the UK.
