Yeah but we wants another CB also so it's possible that won't sign when we won't guarantee him first squad
Regardless what you think of Dier, we have too many players who either have run down their contract or are in that 12-24 month bracket and we need to at the very least keep players so we can actually make money from selling.
Skipp and Tanganga next, but this still looks compared to other top6 clubs
No-one questions his attitude or that he’ll put himself about, it’s just since his injuries and illness it looks as if he’s running in Marmite.Eric seems to me a marmite player...you love him or hate him...I love marmite...we always cry out for a ‘Roberts’ type player..may not be a ball player but someone who you would have standing in the trenches next to you...he’s one of them...and every team needs one..
I get that but I think he’s earned another season at least.(maybe see how he goes to the end of this one first though......)....No-one questions his attitude or that he’ll put himself about, it’s just since his injuries and illness it looks as if he’s running in Marmite.
I'd write a comment but I'm Zoom drunk and you've just about nailed it.I think he and Sanchez could make an excellent first-choice CB pairing. I've been hugely critical of Dier over the past few years but have always maintained he could still make it as a CB. His main problems in midfield are that he's not mobile enough to cover the ground necessary, can't take the ball on the half turn, and isn't a good enough dribbler to withstand a press. In the back line with all of the play in front of him, none of those are really an issue.
The form he showed before the virus hit is enough for me to believe he still has what it takes, and at his best he's easily a CL-quality player. We were just setting him up to fail by playing him in a position he wasn't suited to any longer.
Delusional. Ha ha ha. He is the English Vlad Chiriches.Should definitely tie him down and get him going at CB, he’s potentially our best defender and if he is past his injury issues has a good 5 seasons as our first choice centre back in him.

Regarding Dier, I think he can be a solid option if he commits to being a CB and accepts that he'll never be a top DM again.
Sounds about right.Yeah this is one area in which Levy has actually done well recently. Other than Son, none of our best players are out of contract until 2014.
Sign up the promising youngsters (Skipp, Tanganga, maybe Foyth) and perhaps a few useful squad players like Dier, Lamela.
We really need to upgrade on Lloris, Sissoko, Aurier, Rose and Vertonghen anyway so thank God they're the ones whose contracts are running down.
Meanwhile if any of our big players do force a move we'll get some serious cash rather than Eriksen money.
