Dele is a horrendous dribbler.Yeah, Muller couldn’t dribble or didn’t have any tricks at all. I think they are pretty similar.

I would sell him but I certainly wouldn't build a system around him. He's not a 18 year old kid with great potential anymore. What you see is what you get and that is the odd moment of brilliance but mostly very little contribution in matches. I don't know how he could change he has a certain way of playing that is unique to him but not really suitable for the team. We have some great MF players now that can offer a lot going forward and I just think that Deli isn't one of them.My brother has hit the nail on the head with Dele. With the Dele we've predominantly seen over the last 18 months at least.
He's the exact opposite to Aurier, he says. Serge could play a blinder for 89 mins, bar one ridiculous brain fart moment where he gives away a penalty or sees red. Dele is the opposite. He could be fucking pants for the whole game and pull an absolute worldy out the bag in one instant.
Ultimately however, it's not enough. We can't hang around enduring match after match of drivel, waiting for a moment of magic. He was excellent when Jose first came in, but he's unfortunately reverted to type now.
There are obvious reasons for this. He needs a striker to play off, accepted. He also needs to be in a team controlling the game, creating chances for him, also accepted. He also looks really tired early on in games, which obviously shows he needs a rest.
What we need to think about is whether that's enough from a player in such an important position. He's not a luxury as he works his bollocks off, off the ball. But he is a "luxury" in that you have to supply him. He's not a 10. He is a second striker. And we need to consider whether he fits in to the system Jose is trying to implement.
Personally I have my doubts, as I'd love to see a 4-3-3 with a DM, Lo Celso and Ndombele with 2 wingers behind Harry. Dele could fill in in either CM or in a wide position, but not ideally or naturally.
So there's a conundrum coming up in the summer. Sell and get 50 odd million to re-invest or build the whole system around allowing him to just ghost into the box.
Nah, he often is able to get out of tight spots work a trick or touch, which given he hasn’t got a change of pace is pretty decent.Dele is a horrendous dribbler.

Of course he's better as a 2nd striker. He's awful in CM, and he's not got enough skill or vision to be a number 10. So he has this unique role that is great when he's on form, but a lot of the time is to the detriment of the team as a whole. He is better as a 2nd forward than a CM.
His 'special power' is getting between CB and FB for diagonal balls and far post crosses.
I have no idea why this thread is so contentious. He's never been involved in a huge amount of build up play, but gets quite a few assists. He's not a central midfielder, doesn't have the strength, composure or discipline to play that role. His ball retention is poor and he's pretty weak.
He needs to play pretty much as high up the pitch as a striker and works best with little positional responsibility. He has moments of genius and is a big game player. The most intelligent player we have in terms of finding and exploiting space, and chips in with quite a few goals.
He's never been one to run a game from the middle of the pitch and don't know why people are expecting him to do so now. He's a forward who plays on the periphery of games, with quite a lot of involvement in goals and opportunities.

People want to buy Dwight McNeil and sell Dele Alli. Fuck me, I’ve heard it all now.
Burnley's answer to Johnny Jackson with a sprinkling of Charlie Daniels for good measure...Don’t even know who the hell Dwight McNeil is?
I haven’t seen that. But I do see him slow the ball down, draw two defenders on top of him, then he tries to lift the ball and jump between them and lose the ball 100% of the time he tries it.Nah, he often is able to get out of tight spots work a trick or touch, which given he hasn’t got a change of pace is pretty decent.

Yes we need a rebuild 100 % it's partially being undertaken we had a good January window, many players have been poor, Dele included but bare in mind his injuries age positional changes and the teams overall poor form he is being unfairly judged.People really wanna make excuses for him like, give him credit for running or that he played through the pain? Who gives a shit about that?
It was a another terrible performance from Dilly Dally, like it has been for the past 18 months.
But Lucas Lamela and even Son right now is just a bad. Fact is we need a massive rebuild. And only Son of these players are good enough.
The thing with Dele is nothing has changed. You can go back to his early Spurs days (the ones people are hankering for now) and you will see the same things said in threads. "Poor in possession, slow to do anything, not good enough if he's not scoring"
He probably had more mobility (and less tape) then as well.
The longer between the magic moments the harder it was always going to get for him as more and more people question his role and worth in that role.
Honestly can't see a happy ending to Dele's story at Spurs...
