We’ve needed a back up striker ever since Harry Kane broke through. We’ve more than got by when he is injured with Son, Dele and Moura. It was Pochettino that was in charge and happy with the situation. How does he get away without criticism? He’s a football manager not a blameless saint. We could get a bang average striker in now and so many would be satisfied with it. Or we could have found someone in the last four years of Pochettinos tenure.
We signed Janssen and Llorente in the last four years of Pochettino's tenure. If we had both of those back now (or most of the strikers rumoured this window) our team would probably be lining up for games exactly as it is now.

Well, I'm off to watch the shit on SSN, in the vain hope that someone nips in and nicks Jarrod Bowen from under Wet Spams noses.

That would be a nice little end to the transfer window...

If by 4 you mean 2 then I agree buddy! Anyway this is totally off topic and there are about a million other threads to talk about this stuff in! ?

In fairness I think he is saying 4 because the previous windows had no spending so you can assume some sort of "rollover" system for spending.

How much we spend is largely irrelevant to me, I think not signing a forward despite knowing the extent of Harry Kane's injury for the whole month of the window is negligent.

Could never understand Chelsea contemplating selling OG to us. They have a transfer embargo, and they are competing with us for 4th. Why would they strengthen us?

LISTEN OUT PLEASE!

we are heavily governed by our banks, and the credit we already drawn down, and have with them. Reality is; we will spend sensibly. We have auditors etc, under agreement watching how we spend every penny. The bank want to protect their asset, which is the stadium. Unless we have an investor to come in, pay off everything, we have to be creative and frugal. I rather that than false hopes. So don’t expect summer to see us rack up 150m in purchases Net spend. We thought we would of had more sponsors:naming rights etc.

I don’t like it, but that is how it is.

EDITED: Nett spend of 150m. Should say can’t see us spending 150m, unless there is couple sails, new investment etc. Opinion

And what about the impact of failing to qualify for next season's Champions League due to having zero contingency when Harry is missing?

Roll that forward and then consider the negative impact on sponsorship, naming rights & TV revenue?

And then also consider the impact of not playing Champions League football in trying to attract new signings next summer.

In short, small time thinking = small time results.

Under Levy, we have continually failed to invest in the squad when we had an opportunity for real progress.

Happened with Redknapp. Happened with Poch. Why did we expect it to be any different this time? We've heard all the excuses before.

An injury to Son or Moura and we’re screwed. Hoping for some last minute action as were in desperate need for someone.

I think Berhwijn relieved some of the need for another striker, Son, Moura Berwijn and Ali is a decent front 4

Sure this is going to be an ongoing theme.
You have spelt the same player in different ways in the same sentence, and both times incorrectly.

Sadly this will result in a likely 6th place finish getting dumped by Leipzig out of the champions league, little chance of winning the fa cup .

surely it would have been worth taking a chance and spending on a striker . How much would we lose in revenue not qualifying for the champions league ?? More than it would cost to get a decent forward in .

just seems ludicrous that we probably now won’t get the goals that would help close the gap on Chelsea . Madness
This is also aimed at those with the same mind set who agrees with you. Thinking along these lines shows how much lack of faith and even disrespect you have to our current players including the new acquisitions. I know we didnt get a striker (which I too wanted) that would have strengthen us, but it is not the be all and end all. To think that we now are going to be dumped out of the CL, little chance of the FA cup and now wont be able to challenge Chelsea for 4th spot is pathetic.

Even Chelsea and Manu didnt get the quality striker that we wanted. From the outset JM had said that clubs are unlikely to get their chosen targets because the respective clubs are unlikely to release them mid campaign. In other words its other clubs' deadwood that would be available. So unless he was going to get a bargain JM didnt want to pay over the odds for a players he thought were risky and in the case of Girould, everything was agreed with the him and the Chelsea management, but it was that c*** Lampard who (spitefully imo) pulled the plug. If JM had paid over the odds and got these players and it didnt work, we would have been left with more deadwood, and again Levy would have been blamed.

Anyone saying "it's not a bad window" can come up with it throughout spring after every tripe performance, when we've crushed out of CL/FA and lost out on 4th. Make no mistake about it, this is worst performance on transfer window since Berba/Frazier. Could turn out to be even worse. We had one rather simple task and failed to deliver.

E: Quite a few dislike/wtf/disagree - will be visiting you throughout the spring when you slam our tripe performances.

I really don't feel disappointed about not singing a really shitty striker. We literally cannot buy strikers for love nor money the only one we have ever signed in all the years I been watching Spurs was Berba and we literally lucked right out in Kane coming through the academy
Klinsman, Sheringham and Keane weren't bad (maybe you're too young for the first two, but Keane was at his peak playing with Berbatov).

I think they successfully appealed their ban and can buy now.
He wanted to leave and wanted to stay in London, that didn't leave too many options really. Frank kyboshed it otherwise, it may well have happened.

If only we could sign Frazier now...

We'd have Ali and Frazier, that would be a right Thrilla :sneaky:
