I am genuinely saddened by Poch’s fall from grace - I wanted him to build a Spurs dynasty, and for a long time I truly believed he would; how has it come to this?
We should have expected that. Most of managers reach their top in 2-4 year with the club. There are very very few who could even match their best achievements afterwards. I could think only of SAF and Simeone.
Wenger was also close but City came in and bought his players and it was the beginning of an end

I might be in the minority here but I still think he's earned the right to another transfer window and to turn the form and squad around. Plus Levy isn't spending £30m sacking him and another £150m+ that the likes of Mourinho would demand as a war chest.
Whoever our manager is we’re going to need more than £150m as our warchest

It's been a tough period for a while now, we need to sort it, and ASAP. We have been really poor.
Crazy thing is we beat red star and sheff utd, which could happen come on..... We will be 6th and in the CL, group stages this week........ How fucking mental is that?

I know this is rhetorically asked, but I feel the major component is the transfer market. If a dynasty in fact was the object, then one shouldn't need a rebuild in year 5. A coherent, long term, strategy for transfers to keep a dynamic squad rolling on from year to year is needed to have that dynasty. You can't have a constant five year expiration date on the squad.

I would agree if things were going badly, like Arsenal in 5th badly. For me, we've now pushed beyond that.

Unless Bayern come along and pay all the compensations which is not going to happen, I agree with your post.

One, I highly doubt we will defeat Sheff Utd, even if we do we won't be 6th as several other clubs might win their matches too.

We are truly in a zombie state that's deep in paralysis.

Levy not wanting to bite the bullet and/or pay the compensation.
Poch unable to find a solution to formation, personnel and motivation.
Players who either clearly see their future elsewhere, trained into the ground or merely going through the motions.

We are all just regurgitating the same sentiment here - feels like fucking Brexit this.
Yes, but a formation with motivated players shouldn't be too hard. Lo Celso and Sessegnon must be motivated. Son is still motivated I guess, plus plus. It's not rocket science and deep psychological science to sort that out. But, for Poch it apparantly is. Lamela, was he suspended? Guess he is motivated.

You are totally right. But who do we blame for that? The board seem unwilling to compromise in order to get players out when the time is deemed right by the manager - this is a real inhibitor to success. However, we hear many stories of Poch refusing players and potentially making the challenge harder for himself by saying he’ll work with players who he clearly doesn’t trust...

I’m a staunch Poch supporter. I’d give him the season to figure this out and either be vindicated or realize he’s done his best but it’s no longer a love story. It’s the couple whose get back together and try despite the obvious signs.

Also, today doesn’t even register for me with regards to his tenure. Today’s game was out of the stuff of fiction.

I keep the faith.

...

Just drop Eriksen immediately please tho, Poch.

Fair enough. Just out of interest how bad would it have to get before you change your mind?

I'd imagine Bayern would not have pulled the pin on Kovac if they hadn't already made contact with his successor. Pochettino more than likely doesn't fall into that bracket.

That last minute sub was baffling. It's like he was making it to waste time, to hold onto a point.

The Champions League finalists, wasting time to nick a point away to a team in 17th. Laughable.
How was it baffling? You've answered why he did it yourself....... Had he not and we conceded, I'll take a not too risky punt and suggest your post would then have been about game management and his lack of it.

Of course if your point is how did we get in this state, the answer is fuck nose, that post mortem is yet to come

It's an enigma, and the primary reason for why I believe it would be for the best to switch manager. That's NOT saying that Pochettino should unilaterally take all the blame, but a rinse and repeat just won't work out. I don't think Pochettino is the right guy moving forward regardless of who fucked up the most in the past.
