Just had an email from the club saying I can buy 3 guest tickets for the Belgrade game. Good to see fans are deserting the team in a moment of need.

And we wonder why the players don’t look bothered.
On the club website explaining the availability of tickets for this match, and I also saw this on there last week, "Following UEFA’s decision to ban away fans attending this fixture, our allocation of home tickets has increased."

Someone on here (can’t remember who, sorry) posted a few days ago about how Poch gets the best out of players, and has never been around with them long enough to deal with what we have going on now, ie the decline/arrogance part.. Which has crossed my mind before, particularly when you look at players like Jay Rodriguez, Luke Shaw, and Morgan Schneiderlin.. None of those guys went on to greater things (ok Jay had serious injury issues), and probably of the whole Southampton team he had, only Big Vic went on to another amazing season - and that was with us and with Poch.. Is it due to fatigue/burnout? With Poch’s methods do you only really get a fantastic two year spell? Is THAT what we are now seeing? Players believing they are better than they are, and then can’t reach those levels again. Cos if this is the case, then the team needs seriously updating at EVERY opportunity/window.. Which we did A few times... Dier was great as DM, end of season we bought Vic to compete/replace him. Walker/Tripps.. Toby-Jan/Sanchez.. Charlie/Son...That kind of thing would have to be the norm each window for every position. So really, that is a lot of work, and the Dembele role was never dealt with, nor Kanes’, nor Eriksen, nor Rose. And more recently, the DM role has been neglected too... So here is where we are at, unhappy manager who couldn’t/didn’t get rid of and replace certain players, and players who think they’re better than they are who are performing at an even lower level of football than the league requires. . . It also has to be noted that a lot of signings we have made, haven’t been up to scratch.. Maybe again that’s due to this intense training he puts them through?

I think that’s a bit harsh. It was £78 for my Bayern Ticket and I’m sure others paid more. I personally think the club have been greedy in not including some cup games in the ST, or failing that keeping the bulk group game thing they did at Wembley or just pricing the group games a bit lower.

I'll never, ever blame fans for choosing not to pay the highest ticket prices in the world to watch a distinctly not-best-in-the-world football team. If the club aren't getting the footballing side right, IMO I think fans should vote with their wallet and not attend games: it's literally the only meaningful protest that we can make.

They can pay them to go and watch us against Munich but not red star Belgrade?

That’s pretty fair weather regardless of cost.

I agree with that 100%. But now’s the time to support the team.

Even though it's "Cat C" my ticket is still £45 and that's the cheapest in the stadium! People have just spent £65+ for Bayern and there's only 2/3 more pay packets until Christmas. Coupled with the fact we're playing absolute dog shit, I'm not surprised.

I'm not against fans being 'fair weather' when the team isn't putting their all in. They're paying through the nose to watch us play, and if we're serving up lazy shit on the pitch then I'm totally on the side of someone who could stretch their wallet to watch a game with Lewandowski and Neuer on display but doesn't feel like doing the same for the luminaries of Red Star Belgrade.

Fail to beat Watford and it’s possible Anfield could be his last game after they inevitably thrash us.
That's the issue. It may seem like 3 points from Watford is a given. But from the current attitudes of both clubs, Watford will want the points so much more than us. Just look at Newcastle yesterday. And I am really dreading to face Watford at this point because the lads will just think they have enough quality to win regardless and they were always so wrong recently.

Against Liverfool it is best to escape to a remote island without internet. Period.

We can't do worse than having a caretake boss now if we cannot get Mourinho/Allegri in before these two games. But I have totally no confidence in Poch to bring us ANY point at all from these two games.

I don’t think it’s the regime per se that’s making them sick of him. I think it’s his returning home to Barcelona instead of travelling back with them to London after Madrid. THAT, for me, would explain the feeling of malaise. And it’s that feeling of malaise that makes something tolerable become complaint-worthy.

We all have aspects of our jobs we don’t like, but we put up with them because we don’t think They’re that big a deal. But then something happens that makes us unhappy and then that unpleasant yet previously tolerable thing becomes intolerable. The insignificant becomes significant.

If I had to select one thing as Poch’s biggest mistake it would be that one. If he’d flown back with the squad, spent the flight and a day or two putting his arm around shoulders, it would have made the squad feel that he was with them in their grief.

By flying straight back home after, it would have left them bereft and wondering what he thought of them and the game. HUGE mistake. Cripes he didn’t even have to fly back with them - he could have told them he was flying home but that he’d meet with them shortly after and talk.

He could have invited each of them out to dinner or his pad or done it in small groups and talked with them. Not just about the game, but about the future.

He could have used the loss as a watershed moment to refocus minds and strengthen relationships. Maybe told them that he’d organised a group get-together to happen a few days after of the whole squad and coaching staff to give them a chance to grieve, but also celebrate their achievement together. Not just fly away. I was gobsmacked when I read in the Athletic that he’d done that.

That to me suggests a BIG problem. Why he did that when it seems so out of character to his previous MO when it comes to man-management is something that concerns me. THAT, for me, would be reason to question whether he’s the right man to take us forward. If it was an aberration, a one-off, stemming from something else, then it can be forgiven as long as it doesn’t happen again. But if it’s his become a default pattern of behaviour, that’s bad.

He has a house in Barcelona. Maybe he just wanted to go home and chill after the disappointment of losing. Leave the players be etc.

I appreciate this doesn’t fit certain agendas and Is basically sensible. ?

No one is saying we are bigger than Lpool or we should spend the same as them.

The debate started on a point that its not fair that poch is compared with klopp and pep who have high budgets. That was it.
I was just taking advantage of the comment to make a wider point but I agree with the premise.

That won't wash. If you're going to you're going to nip off to your bolthole after a disappointment like that then I think its beholden to explain to the players why, i.e - letting them get away and forget about it. There's no suggestion that he made that at all clear. He just... buggered off. If I was one of the squad I wouldn't necessarily take it personally but I would definitely revise my opinion of my boss and lose a chunk of respect for them. What happened to 'We Win together and we lose together'?

I’ll be going of course but I really think the club should have made the Belgrade and Olympiacos games an almost Cat ‘D’ game and done the tickets for £25 or something.

Our ticket prices are too high as it is. I’d like to see a bit given back.

Actually I believe Poch’s profits from the book went to charity. What a twat, eh?

Also, Klopp’s book came out a few months later, so you’re not doing well with this post.

Did klopp reveal private discussions to the world?

Perhaps they are deserting because the players don’t look bothered.

At the moment looks like it's going to be lowest attendance so far at the stadium for the Belgrade game, 40000 maybe at the moment, the club refused to offer the discounted three game offer for the group stage like they did in the first season at Wembley bet they regret that now.
