I was at the Lane this weekend for the thirds time the season and again there was no noise from the Spurs fans. We are meant to lift the team, would the yellow wall of Dortmund ever shut up. The season has not been disastrous and we get sung at is this a Library. What I can tell is away from home our support seems to be fantastic but home it is awful.

This will always be the case now we’re ‘a big club’, people will go to our stadium for a day trip for something to do while they’re in London yet they don’t really support our club, the away days are so much better because you don’t get these day trippers, you get the ‘real’ fans who go enough to get the loyalty points.

So for you I am a day tripper coming all the way from Malta on purposes for the game!!! Don't generalise when posting such comments!!

But tbf it is a cause for lack of home atmosphere.

It is not to say casual fans aren’t dedicated but having the singing fans dotted around the ground does result in a worse atmosphere.

It is not having a go at anyone.

I think you over interpreted that.

I am sure you are not in that category.

I caught the second half on a stream and it seemed pretty noisy to me...

CAN YOU SIT DOWN OVER THERE

if you can't sing sitting down I'm sure there are many fans that can. I have no choice but to sit, and it doesn't stop me singing

there are 42k season ticket holders, if they can't make a noise it's very sad. nothing to do with day trippers

The trouble is there are too many sitting in the south stand that belongs in the west.

you also now have the ones that can be vocal being told to sit down, and don't know how to sit and sing, and then you have the mobs that are too busy looking at their phones or watches making sure that get that desperate pint at half-time

There is always the question of whether the players should excite the fans or should the fans excite the players?

When things are good there is a symbiosis between fan and team, when its a bit more iffy then they kind of blame each other.

I like good footy,if they are not playing well,I will cheer them on to a point but expect them to react. I mean if Poch can get upset at them I can too and Poch is not beyond getting upset at as well. But much better is they have a go and give everything even if they don't win. As long they put in the effort its ok. But for me those millionaires cant just rely on singing fans to get them through

Exactly. Look at all the hardcore fans all over the world, they are in a certain area and they make all the noise.

But a lot of those 42k are previous members who are not necessary as 'hardcore' plus the fact that with ticket exchange and 100k+ members looking to see the odd game at the shiny new ground it’s easy to get rid of your ST

If your busy or 70/30 or even 50/50 about going chances are you'll think sod it and stick it on the exchange

I reckon there could be as many as 30/40% each week where the ST seats have been put on the exchange or given to friends etc

Just around me Saturday there was easily 10 new faces in the South Stand that are ST seats

It’s a bloody tourist attraction now, especially for the non 'big games'

It was quite and moany at Wembley, and it was often quiet and moany in the last few seasons at the lane when against a stubborn team.
Not surprised it's quiet and moany still

Not quite ready to pump fake crowd noises through the speakers yet. But maybe the crowd can be encouraged every now and then as it is in some US sports

I reckon safe standing would work wonders - it would attract the type who love to stand and sing. I know I’d want to be there given the chance.

God knows if we’ll ever see it, though...

Unfortunately there were plenty in the South Lower safe standing area that were sitting

Unbelievable

Problem with this theory is, there's occassions when the atmosphere is brilliant, the ground is LOUD. So we do have the fans to make the noise. So the 'tourists' are still helping to create noise. Let's be honest, the vast majority of the ground will be Spurs fans, tourists? – I don't know what percent, but very very small I would imagine.

Let's not forget to take into account the utter garbage/rubbish - for the most part - we've been served up so far. Fans will be naturally nervous. It will be the same with any team.

I think not supporting the team (and it ought to be loudly) is frankly terrible. But ok, some aren't big into cheering; I get that. However, it's one thing to say nothing and quite another to tell someone who is trying to get behind our boys to "shut up" or "sit down!" God I effing hate that.

I am going to take my 7-year-old from Brooklyn (where we live) to the New Lane next Spring, and you can bet your ASS I'll be screaming, clapping and getting behind the lads (as will he). I will/would NEVER boo (or talk shit to) one of our players; quite the opposite, I will only encourage every positive move whilst ignoring the mistakes. Why? Because besides my kids and Judo, Spurs are my fucking life (sad, I know, but whatever...) and I am a supporter first and foremost-- not a whiner. Moaning/cussing/fussing does nothing but create a toxic atmosphere which- as my soccer-mad, travel-team-playing (yet still little kid) son points out "does nothing but make the players uncomfortable/nervous/unencouraged." Because they do hear the negative shit that's shouted-- just like they hear the positive stuff as well. And, though unfathomably rich footballers they may be- they're still human, and pretty much without exception they're at least trying to affect the game in which they're involved positively.

Christian Eriksen is a perfect example of how I feel a fan should behave-- I hate the guy now (as in: actual hate) yet, when seeing him play live I would never get on his back/shout obscenities at him--- even if it looked/appeared/seemed like he didn't give a shit out there! The reason for this is simple: my getting on his back would do literally nothing to help the situation (regardless of how I, personally, happen to feel about said player), and as long as the guy wears the lily-white I would/will support him loudly and proudly by verbally accentuating any positive thing that he did-- anything-- and that's regarding a player I happen to actively despise!

Basically I feel that people going through the turnstiles at the stadium need to stop thinking along the lines of "I paid for me ticket; I get to bitch if I want" and move over to thought process of "I'm here because I love Spurs and- win or lose- I'm gonna get behind the team and try to be part of the much-needed '12th man.'" We Spurs fans need to be strong, positive, add exuding good energy, not toxic sludge.

Lol ironically I'm toxic as FUCK when I'm home watching us won the telly; I yell, scream, curse a blue streak, call out players for dumb-ass/lazy/insipid
win person, however, I'm "Super Supporter." I literally want to do nothing else than stand the entire match and cheer on our boys-- which means I'll probably get into some kind of altercation while at the stadium...my oh my how I wish there was a standing-only cheering section-- I'd be there beginning to end and leave so hoarse I wouldn't be able to speak. I'm actually nervous about going to see Tottenham in the UK because I know how I am and- from what I gather- types like me comprise maybe 5-10% of all match day attendees. I hope I get lucky and happen to get sat next to some supportive crazies like me, but I ain't exactly counting on it...

Now if I can just arrange the time off work, permission from the (sports-hating) wife and the tickets...
