Should have a penalty last week and now this week.

Not sure why the media is looking to label him a diver. Both would have been fouls anywhere else on the pitch, and you have to feel for any other team in any other game.

since when has getting your body between the ball and defender been “initiating contact” or a dive? Countless times a game defenders shepherd the ball out of play like this, feel the contact and go down. Sokratis was clumsy and took him down.

Rugby tackle a player to the floor in the box, it's a pen, push a player over in the box and then hold him down not a pen ...

Kane is the least of our worries, perhaps if they got more into him we would see a greater yield.

Nothing wrong with floating an idea and being constructive with criticism but after a NLD?

Personally thought he looked far better this week than last week.

I thought Kane showed glimpses of his best form. His game has changed in the last two years, probably a lot to do with the ankle injuries, but also I feel he has taken advice from people like Alan Shearer (whose own game changed as he got older and lost a yard of pace). Kane now clearly wants to stay more centrally, makes less runs into the channels, and seems to have bulked up and is more willing to wrestle with CBs than out-manoeuvre them. One of his biggest assets of the last 18 months has been his passing, and maybe we could play him as a 10 instead of a 9, with Son (who is all about perpetual motion and pace) ahead of him.

Wonder what it'll take for Poch to substitute him. Is that considered a political or controversial move in a game?

He wasn't in the game. I don't think he was playing THAT badly (had been unlucky not to score a second with that shot that hit the post) but tactically he wasn't offering enough. Both teams were starting to tire, the game was opening up, if we were serious about going for the win we should have taken him off, brought on Lucas's pace and had him attack the space that was available.

Pep will substitute Aguero
Klopp will substitute Salah and Mane
Emery will substitute Lacazette

But Poch would never substitute Kane unless he's injured or trying to save him for another game in a couple of days. Even if he's clearly not in the game and there is a suitable alternative on the bench (like there was today).

It's a serious question that must be asked - does Harry Kane have too much power at Spurs?

Fair point

When we get dybala they will both interchange beautifully

He’s such a superb player when he’s on it and Arsenal hate the sight of him which I absolutely love :) he held the ball up brilliantly and looked very dangerous at times. He was also extremely unlucky with that post. Harry’s bang on it this season and will get better.

His effort off the post was vintage.

It was completely a penalty, he was pushed, he was held down. Sokratis and Xhaka are calamitous players, and god only knows how they got away with all they did yesterday.

There is certainly some agenda with referees. What i would ask is the two challenges had have happed on Salah what would be the outcome.

Sorry but that's not a pen on Kane - take your Spurs-glasses off.
In the penalty box, there has to be more contact. For me he went for the penalty and didn't get it instead of playing Lo Celso in the middle for an easy goal.

Like Kane said himself it's 50/50 in the penalty box, if not in the box it's a free kick everyday. He's right and it's weird because i feel referees has to set a better line.

The one on Dele vs. Ceballos though still baffles me, how we couldn't get anything for that wow..

Not a penalty for my money. I'd have been furious if that was given against us. The Lascelles one v Newcastle was an absolute stone waller though. Mike Dean take a fucking bow you half witted patomime drama queen.

It was stone-wall as well, imo. You just can't not get the ball and clatter into somebody. Doesn't matter if they're already going down, or going away from goal - if you lunge into a player and don't get the ball first - it's a foul. If we conceded that as a penalty, I'd call our defender a moron and accept it.

I bet our fans acting like it wasn't a pen willingly accepted the penalty on Aubameyang last year.

Thought Harry was great yesterday, worked his bollocks off for the team as per, and had some great chances, that one off the post would have been an all time classic. I think it was a pen, but can see why people would see it was 50/50.

All this crap about us being better without Kane is starting to piss me off. He’s our only truly world class player, and he almost always scores. His header set Sonny away yesterday, and once again he scored a brilliant penalty.

He’s an outstanding player.

That wasn't a pen, he dived or went to ground too easily let's be real and rightly or wrongly he's starting to get a reputation for it - it reminded me when Vardy was doing it a few years ago and he was getting slated by many of our fans so let's try and keep the same energy yeah?

Last week's one however was as blatant as they come.

Think it's a good question. He was an outstanding talisman. However I can see why poch will keep playing him to play him back into form as such.

The thing is previously it was relatively normal for him to get a goal out of nothing. He was Bale esque at times. I remember defending janssen when he played early in the season due to kanes injury, in that we created nothing. He looked lost but he had literally no service. But when kane returned he seemed to score goals.

Begs me to think how many good chances we actually create. Today we looked better transitioning quicker, counter attacking purposefully. Some nice triangles close passing and quicker passing. Sometimes I think we play better this way, the Liverpool game probably being the pinnacle of this style when we beat them was it 4.1?

Anyway tactically how do we get the best out of kane of he is to be that oerminant fixture. Personally I'd drop him here and there just to get his hunger up. He's England's golden boy, probably a bit undeservingly. His start to his England career was great. Though he stank a bit at the world Cup.

Do we even play to his strengths in creating. We hardly seem to play any through balls, who was a kane specialty, does he have the pace and strength to still do this, with a long run? I did notice more movement from kane when alli came on. Maybe its the team that's the problem.

Who knows, Harry may surprise us and get back to that talisman stature. That shot today with the outside of the boot with the ball running away from goal was simply gorgeous though. Couple millimetres more bend and that's a banger of a goal. That was absolute quality. The pen was quality. His header for the goal build up was quality. He still has quality. I'd just love to know what's wrong.

There's a lot missing from the team if you think about it at depth.

Kane's form is directly linked to that of his teammates and when you consider the form of the main creative forces that lead to his sustained goalscoring you're looking at an out of form Eriksen (for whatever reason), an Alli that had to play so much deeper because of our midfield crisis, a Dembele that has since left and two fullbacks that don't get forward enough to provide width because we don't have a DMC who is capable of splitting the centrebacks and is fit and able right now.

If we had Dier or Wanyama back in form and fitness both Jan and Toby would split and cover the fullback slots and the KWP and Rose would get much further up the pitch.

Dembele used to create so much space for Eriksen that he'd have so much time to pick out those passes from between the defence and midfield lines and he'd have the multiple runners like Kane, a back post Alli and Son buzzing around the edge of the box.

There is a lot that is missing but most of it comes down to lacking the same defensive stability that we previously had in my opinion

“Kane - the beginning of the end?”

In all seriousness he’s off form, and does look a little leggy. I’m not worried yet, though. He’s still scored 3 in 4 ...

Nah, I've always said that he needs Dele on the pitch to get he absolute best out of him even then we've hardly been a good creative attacking force in the last year or so, much more to come from him.

I don't think it was stonewall yesterday but it was more of a penalty than the one Arsenal missed in the game at the end of last season. With the way Atkinson refereed the game you have to feel that if that had been up the other end he'd have given it, he was wildly inconsistent all game.
