Would explain why we sent staff to try and get the done quickly and quietly. Looks like we expected this to happen. Frustrating again
I'd wait for at least one of the Portuguese news outlets to report before you make your mind up. Then you can put a bolt through it and draw a line under it

To be fair this isn’t spy games. As if we’d be able to keep it secret. The players agent and the chairman etc would let United know we were in for him as it suits them for there to be a bidding war...

It’s going to between us and United for Dybala and Fernandes. Not sure who gets who, that will play out quick enough I think. Utd will weight straight in with big cash, but be surprised if they go for both.
So long as we end up with two out of Eriksen, Dybala, Lo Celso or Fernandes, I’m not too fussed.
Ending with only one, is not a squad improvement , it’s just maintaining the current levels. Yes we’ve added Ndombele, but he’s replacing Dembele. Perhaps an upgrade based on fitness and potential, but let’s not underplay how good the Moose was.
Still need Sessegnon, plus a relacement if Toby leaves, and ideally a Llorente replacement, albeit maybe a project rather than old head.

Bolded bits are where I'm at.

Not saying that Fernandes to United source is true but this is why I'm not getting excited about anything until we've seen a bid has been accepted now. We've been seemingly quite close to signing Lo Celso for around 3 weeks or so, same said for Sessegnon, then Dybala was apparently a target and two days after that broke he was the off to United.

In the past the news of us having officials going to Portugal to try and sort the deal out and such would get me excited but now it just feels like it means so little.

I think there’s a whole merry go round yet to kick off.
Now Utd have gone big on Maguire, will they need to recoup by selling someone, Pogba maybe? If he goes to Real, then Eriksen may no longer have anywhere to go, and maybe stays with us, or maybe with Pogba moved, Juve may then come in for Eriksen and we can work a Dybala deal.

Key is to make sure we improve the squad. Not getting someone alongside Eriksen (or his replacement), is standing still, and doing that last summer meant we went from slipped from 3rd to squeezing into 4th on goal difference.

I’d like to see Sessegnon come in now, because I think if we play the waiting game, we’ll miss out. Also someone like the young Chilean Forward we were linked with, someone who can play up top, or slot into the WF role. £4.5m release clause, could be a late deal that takes very little effort.

Even though Man Utd do have loads of money I’d be very surprised if they spent another £50m + on a player in this window without some out going’s first.

Can’t see Pogba moving now as will take a lot to fall into place in a very short space of time for that to happen. Lukaku would be the most likely player to generate money for them. But looks like Juve don’t have the money for him without selling first and not sure inter can afford him.

So I had listen to that podcast (on Spotify and has time stamps so you don't have to listen to the waffle) and honestly? Wouldn't be that worried, could go United of course but all he does is give his opinion on Di marzio who's been consistently wrong this window, certainly not enough for me to not believe every large Portuguese news outlet about it, hope we get some ITK about it tho (y)

But is Levy going to get both in before the end of the English window without Eriksen leaving? If we "only" get Lo Celso in and then Eriksen fucks off in a few weeks, that's an incredibly weak position for us to be in.

Whoever goes for CE will most likely be when our window is closed, so real interesting how we’re going to deal with this
I mean we have a week left anyway, there's no time to fuck about and "wait to see what happens" with eriksen

Wonder why we’re not in for Madison, prem proven and had the highest chances created in the league last year. Strikes me as a very similar player to Fernandes in terms of play, positioning, striking of the ball from long range and set pieces.

It would be absolutely horrible and not unlikely.

I think it's been said Poch didn't rate him a year or two ago.

Have the Portuguese media gone quiet on this? How were things left from their point of view?
