People are either going to be extremely happy this transfer window or the pitchforks will be out. Intrigued and confused.

Could be. But why send delegates to Portugal? Bit of an expensive way to get a deal done. Although I guess you could say if it knocks 20m of the transfer for Lo Celso it works out cheaper.
It’s the same guy posting his tweets. I hope @COYS Forever sees the light one day.

Maybe I'm missing something but I just don't get very excited by watching his highlight clips. All seems the result of incredibly sloppy play rather than just moments of brilliance outside of his freekicks.

And Lo Celso looks like a much better player.

I think Bruno has a more cracking distance shot. And think he’s a bit faster.

That said I like GLC as a player more.

If Eriksen is going to go Bruno is high up on the list of “big time potential” replacements.

But if it’s Eriksen staying and one of GLC or Bruno, I want GLC.

I’ll say one thing for Fernandes based on his YouTube vids: he’s got two good, and very quick, feet.

Fernandes strikes the ball very cleanly and with venom, it doesn't surprise me that he's scored as many goals (and as many goals from distance) as he has.

His creativity stats are also off the charts. I know players in Italy don't always translate well to the Premier League, but the fact that he was the second most creative player in his final season in that league is nothing to be sniffed at. Serie A may not be physically demanding but it's full of technicians, so posting those kinds of numbers is a testament to his eye for chance creation.

All that being said I agree that Lo Celso looks the better player. He's got the rare ability to control the tempo of a game *and* chip in with goals and assists, and seems suited to replacing Eriksen outright in a way that Fernandes does not. Perhaps with Winks and Ndombele in CM Poch is not as concerned about the playmaker providing the rhythm considering that our attacking players should be receiving the ball in much better positions than they have up until now.

Regardless he seems like a decent second option if we can't manage to get GLC or if Eriksen leaves. It's good that we're lining up a solid Plan B -- our inability to do just that is what's been our failing in past windows IMO.

Lol too late in the window. Lots of clubs haven't made their major moves yet.

I think he means it’s to hurry Betis along. Shows how hard the market it’s though that so many clubs can’t get deals over the line. Clubs just want too much money for players.

Having watched some more vids and match highlights (Barca 2017 in here and the preseason game vs Pool are good starters) I'm certainly more intrigued by him. He certainly has some of Eriksen's key attributes in his locker, such a great crossing in open play and long range shooting. Certainly seems to have good vision for the through ball too. Seems happy taking the ball under pressure and looks for interplays which will suit us if he signs. He's just a player who's looked bang average whenever I've seen him play, mainly for Portugal, but I accept that's not always a fair barometer. Does concern me for £50m plus though. No links other than Utd as far as I can tell either, who supposedly haven't even bid.

What I prefer about Lo Celso is that he seems more tenacious and he's already used to a pressing system. I think he is better at dribbling in tight areas too and he's been playing in a better league. Plus by all accounts his Poch's top target for AM.

That said if Eriksen is off then it may well not end up as a case of either/or!

I think it is, unless you mean because it’s not for his club side? I’ve thought the same at international level to be fair. Let’s remember though that Eriksen, in the World Cup qualifying for Denmark for example, was awesome. Every game you watched him he looked the most deadly player on the pitch pretty much.

I always think it’s best to read what the potentially selling club’s fans think of a player. If they are desperate not to lose him then you want to sign him, if they are happy just to take the money then it’s one you have to be wary about.

I didn’t know he’d spent most of his time in Italy. His figures are majorly down in a tougher league but there could be various reasons for that. Knowing he’s played out of Portugal does make it more interesting that’s for sure.

I think posting Twitter stuff regarding him being an alternative to Lo Celso is pointless. ITK has clearly suggested that we are back in a good place on the Lo Celso deal and ITK has also confirmed that we are pursuing Fernandes so he is clearly an Eriksen replacement.

I didn't want to lose Eriksen but if his heart isn't in it anymore and we get a corner past the first man then I'm all for it.

I agree. I think it’s journos guessing that is what we are up to. Your post is much more likely I reckon.

I hope you're right. Getting both is very important. I'd also rather not miss out on GLC

Seems like this is just a way to get the GLC price down to be honest.

IMO it's more of a message to Eriksen to sign a new contract or spend next season on the bench while he runs his contract out. A bit brutal I know, but if he's off for free we have to replace him now or next year. If we can afford now, why not?

I don’t think Poch benches him, personally, and I don’t think levy tells him he has to.

If the stories are true and we have apparently flown representives out to Lisbon for Negations then like to think we must be serious about this deal and confident we can get it done. Otherwise You would kind of imagine if it was a tentative offer and enquiring what the situation is with Fernandes etc they would just have Skype meeting with Sporting save the time money etc on travelling to Lisbon.

They rejected our first bid. Says it all really.
