Seems similar to past approaches - allowing others to do their business before we make some of ours.

This has all the hallmarks of being true, stuff coming out from various sources very rapidly!

Must mean Eriksen is off which is sickening! Always had a feeling Madrid will be in for him, they are just leaving it late, doing a Levy on Levy.

So we were sort of interested but United got involved waving wonga and we stepped back, then Dybala came up but United got involved and stepped away from Fernandes leaving us to step back in to pick up our original interest! How does that scan, pretty well to my mind. All seems a bit too good to be true but I guess we'll find out soon.

If this is true I think it means Eriksen leaves and that, for me, is potentially a disaster regardless of terrible penalties.

Probably better to have Fernandes on 5 years than Eriksen in 1.

@DuncanCastles

Understand that Tottenham have sent a two-person delegation including Matthew Collecott to Lisbon to discuss the transfer of Bruno Fernandes. Sporting say discussions are under way for a player they have been trying to sell in this window.

If anyone needed any further proof how much of a fucking idiot Ricky Sacks is, he’s just “reported” that the Telegraph understand we’ve met with Fernandes’ agent this week.

Except he didn’t even check the date of the fucking article, as it was written in June.

Sorry pal but Duncan Castle sits alongside Ricky Sacks in the ‘could potentially have some severe brain damage’ tier.

He can play CM and CAM, but I think has also played in the CF role from time to time (though this could be bollocks). Apparently works his arse off in a game, so versatility and application in spades

That account then tweeted again
Tottenham were the only club to make a real offer for Bruno Fernandes. 45 million euros. Refused. Now comes to Lisbon trying to close for other values.

Same chap posted:

Tottenham will still be far from the numbers Sporting would have wanted, 70, but Bruno Fernandes wants to leave. And the player will press to exit.

Haven't really seen much of Bruno but have a built in stigma that these type of portuguese players don't do that well in the premier league.

Hope to be pleasantly surprised if we are indeed in for him. Still more excited about the Lo Celso links as he looks more robust.

Ah man - this window just gets worse. Really not keen on Bruno and now he's gonna be our Eriksen replacement :depressed:

I'd genuinely rather change things up and use the Fernandes money on another attacker like Zaha or even Bale.
How come?I know nothing about him but 33 goals/assist in 33 games doesn’t seem bad?

Despite Nut Sacks' idiocy, that link is quite interesting. Implies we were testing the waters back in June to gauge his interest and eyeing him up as a potential Eriksen replacement if push came to shove.

Bernardo is an elite player IMO. He came from Monaco, though.

He just typed "Bruno Fernandes" and "Tottenham" in to Google didn't he?

Here's a video that Tifo put together about him a year ago. Key points:
  • Capable of playing both as a No. 10 and as a deeper CM
  • Was the second-most creative player in Seria A in his final year in Italy, immediately became one of the most creative players in Portugal
  • Press-resistant dribbler, draws a lot of fouls
  • Strong defensively, making as many tackles and interceptions as Sporting's DM in 17/18
  • Followed up the season that the video was based on with ~50 combined goals and assists last season (not in the video obviously but worth noting)

You can find the goals and assists here:

Why does it mean CE is leaving? Unless we are assuming GLC will be coming? Wouldnt Bruno be the second choice to GLC rather than replacing CE?

Is Bruno any good? He looks alright but so would GKN in a youtube vid

He's a great talent. If we can get him and Lo Celso signed with only Eriksen departing it will be good business for club. If CE wants to move on, there's nothing we can do besides bring in new elite players.

Dybala, Lo Celso, and Fernandes are probably the top 3 #10s on the market this summer (aside from CE).
