Spot on!It's probably harder for us to sign a forward who Poch thinks is worldclass than it is to buy top class full backs. We can get the full backs next season, but if we miss this chance with Dybala we won't get another shot. It's an opportunistic buy that we have to go for now.
And our full backs probably aren't as bad as people are making out. Look at Man City's left side. They've got Mendy who is very good, but has only played 17 league games in two seasons because of injury. He's their Aurier. They've also got Zinchenko who is good and could be great, but still very young and still learning. You can easily compare him to Foyth. I'm quite happy to give Foyth and Sessegnon a season to prove themselves and develop. Liverpool wouldn't have TAA (20) in their team now if they hadn't been prepared to take a similar risk with him. I don't really see it as a risky strategy.
Which two FBs would we get for 80m that you could honestly say would rapidly improve us anyway?
Atal? Could be a massive risk, great in France but may struggle with the more defensive aspect of the Prem.
Aarons? Whilst I do think he will go on to be a good full back, once again it's a risk as he's not played any PL/top tier football yet and we may find out he's out of his depth.
We're signing Sessegnon anyway, who I believe will go on to be even better than Rose as his output is much much better.
And I do believe that Foyth will go on to be a great option too. Aurier and KWP (he'll get better) are handy options too.
Sometimes you have to make adjustments from within, and I'd much rather this club go to the next level with a Dybala signing then turn our noses up at it because we'd rather sign someone like Atal. That's not thinking big.
