It's probably harder for us to sign a forward who Poch thinks is worldclass than it is to buy top class full backs. We can get the full backs next season, but if we miss this chance with Dybala we won't get another shot. It's an opportunistic buy that we have to go for now.
And our full backs probably aren't as bad as people are making out. Look at Man City's left side. They've got Mendy who is very good, but has only played 17 league games in two seasons because of injury. He's their Aurier. They've also got Zinchenko who is good and could be great, but still very young and still learning. You can easily compare him to Foyth. I'm quite happy to give Foyth and Sessegnon a season to prove themselves and develop. Liverpool wouldn't have TAA (20) in their team now if they hadn't been prepared to take a similar risk with him. I don't really see it as a risky strategy.
Spot on!

Which two FBs would we get for 80m that you could honestly say would rapidly improve us anyway?
Atal? Could be a massive risk, great in France but may struggle with the more defensive aspect of the Prem.
Aarons? Whilst I do think he will go on to be a good full back, once again it's a risk as he's not played any PL/top tier football yet and we may find out he's out of his depth.

We're signing Sessegnon anyway, who I believe will go on to be even better than Rose as his output is much much better.
And I do believe that Foyth will go on to be a great option too. Aurier and KWP (he'll get better) are handy options too.

Sometimes you have to make adjustments from within, and I'd much rather this club go to the next level with a Dybala signing then turn our noses up at it because we'd rather sign someone like Atal. That's not thinking big.

I really don't see PSG get it to work. Barca currently have no money, and I'm not taking the piss when I say that. They had to take out a massive loan for Griezmann which only barely covered the transfer, and Atletico have said they actually need to pay 200m instead of 120m, so they can be ruled out of the Neymar stakes. Real Madrid have already spent a fortune this summer and the only way they could conceivably get Neymar is if PSG took Bale in a player+cash deal, which I'm not sure they would. I don't know how FFP works exactly, but in terms of satisfying it I imagine you need actual money coming in rather than assets in the form of players. Long story short, I don't really see how PSG could actually get him unless UEFA suddenly 'relax' their FFP rules and make the whole thing moot.
They used a loan facility because they had to pay the buyout fee. No other reason.

Unlike a regular transfer, a buyout is paid in full, immediately. It makes far more sense to use a loan for that than use your own cash.

Conventional wisdom is that if you have the cash available, then use that. Usually the interest earned on savings would be less than that paid on the loan, effectively making the loan more expensive.

Not sure if anyones posted this but the report of the bid comes from Antonio Barilla who is considered highly reliable by the Juventus subreddit.

Avoiding paying the interest on a loan is obviously appealing, but for a business to spend such a large percentage of its working capital is very risky.

This is out of our reach, surely? I was doing a FIFA career mode the other week and looked at him. I remember changing my mind from signing him because I thought it was too unrealistic.

All of the ITK accounts have been very quiet on this one.... they did say a lot is always happening behind closed doors and that not all information passed over is allowed to be posted like they did with the Rose & Trippier stuff...... this could really happen couldnt it

That's what I mean. They don't have the money readily available, which is why they're attempting to pull off a ludicrous 4 player deal for Neymar rather than a large fee.

I believe that we will get him.

Good enough for me. No news is good news, usually when we are leaked to a player and its BS at least one ITK comes out and squashes it. This is day 2 and still no one saying this isn't a runner.

He is still a rough diamond. Brilliant at times ,too casual at times. May have had injuries last year but needs to earn his place. Lamela is looking more serious, and we are buying a few players for his type of position it looks like

Lamela looking more serious?

I'm intrigued what you mean by serious? Not injured?
