Overall, we didn't play badly but we didn't play well either. Liverpool's plan was to frustrate and, in fairness, they did it very well, with some help from the referee.

For those not at the game I cannot describe just how much liverpool time wasted. They penned us back, and we didn;t take enough risks, but ultimately we did create enough openings to score. Poor decision making and poor finishing let us down. But Liverpool were not better than us. They just penned us back and played on the counter and tried to take the life out of the game. We didn't do enough but if we took our openings it would be completely different.

There were a few questionable calls that I'd like to revisit. Son's 'handball' and what looked like a liverpool hand ball from where I was sitting, and most spurs fans behind me...

On Kane, he was being very much hassled and harried all game but we rarely tried to play the ball up to him or feed him with the ball. He made a few good passes, but the real problem was transition.

Heading back from Tottenham back to Surrey and catching up with the thread.

Fair to say our team put up a braver performance than some of the “fans” on here. Christ sake - you can argue team selection and individual performance without tossing the entire team and club under a bus.

Embarrassing some of the comments.

Maybe people are sick of us bombing out ALL the time.

We have won fuck all since 08 - nothing.

Finals, semis ALL LOST.

Something like eight FA semis, EIGHT.

The club is business first, football second - yet we pay top money for the football.

The main issue today was our tempo. It was way too slow. It was only til we went 2-0 down that we actually stepped up the speed of our play to actually look to force some openings. Had we played like that earlier we'd have got more out the game.

It's funny when people say Liverpool were there for the taking yet they were no more there for the taking than we were. Neither side really showed the same quality they've shown in the past few seasons. The tempo was nothing like the usual Premier League tempo. I think the heat played a big part in that.

If you can’t actually support THIS Spurs team then you should seriously think about switching to an Oil Slaver or Spanish giant. It would be better for both you and Spurs in the long run.

Liverpool were bang average tonight. I think had the ref gone to specsavers and not given the pen then I imagine the doubt would have crept in with the 'pool players.

I'm just hoping that levy backs poch and gets him the players he wants/needs as we need a small injection of fresh blood. If real come knocking with a decent offer for Eriksen then we need to consider it, same with trippier.

What really frustrated me the most tonight was the backwards passing, back to Lloris. Liverpool hardly, if ever, passrd back to their keep but we seemed to do it a hell of a lot. If we were going to play the log ball game then we should have started with Llorente.

Our front line just tried too hard on the night. That is the only difference between the teams to my mind.

If we played all game from two minutes in like we did from about the 65th minute onwards I think we would have got a goal back at least.

I feel sympathy for the defenders, because there wasn't enough options, but we needed to take more risks.

Ultimately though we lost a closely fought football game against a team that is supposed to be much better than us. You can't really put much of a narrative on it.

If we were braver we would have won. Nobody expected Liverpool to play like relegation fodder and sit back. It was great to get to the final but we left it behind. Disappointing but no need to blame individuals players. I’m sure they are more disappointed than us.

Was a weird setup from klopp too. He obviously learned from last years final.

Any team that sits deep against us, we're always going to struggle against.

I get the point you're making, but I'd rather have defenders calmly playing it around at the back than consistently punting it out of play like Liverpool's were. Although they had the luxury of an "anywhere will do" mentality from the first minute...

It should be pretty clear by now that the knocking it around in our third is an attempt to disrupt the "low block" that teams often employ against us. Our manager trusts the players to be able to play through/round/over the ensuing press to get us some space further up the pitch.

I don't think that's the point though. We've seen what Kane does after injuries - he lingers about and offers very little. Doesn't run any channels, try and work space, try and get in behind, look up for doing the target man stuff and holding/shielding the ball and bringing others into play, contributing to the press etc.

He's such a good striker that in these minimal number of touches he can still often pop up with a goal, but we've seen that even doing that against the likes of Burnley, Southampton, and other lowly teams isn't good enough. It isn't the sole reason for a loss, but having no platform up front, no running, no work rate, and no ability to bring others into the game and helping the rest of the attack thrive is a massive problem. There is more to a strikers game than goal output and ability to sniff a chance, otherwise the likes of Darren Bent and Defoe would be legends of the game and pure poachers become more and more obsolete......

Tonight was probably the time to take the gamble if you were going to, but with the relative quality of all the opposition, domestic and European, getting better and better each year we need to be going into games with eleven players across the park who can run and work and play with intensity. We cant have passengers because we've seen in recent months there is very little opposition now that you can get away with it against. Poch has got to reset the standards, particularly in terms of work rate and the pressing and intensity of our side, and that should mean no one is untouchable and it cant carry half-fit players.
We haven't seen a prime Kane for a while now; I mean a long time! That Kane would give both VVD and Matip nervous fits all game, and still manage to pull their full backs out of position to help.

Combination of multiple injuries, too much game time over the years, lack of recovery time....there are a host of reasons. But, the athleticism, turn of pace, getting shots off quicky on either foot just ain't there like they used to be. Really hope they return.

Nowadays, VVD doesn't have to break sweat with Kane, and he and Matip have got that central defensive threat pretty much locked-down. Their FBs can go about patrolling threats from the flanks, and their CMs can pretty much nullify link play going through the middle.

The game was crying out for us to stretch their defence. We had the personnel with Moura and Son to do that, but we didn't utilize it.
Poch had a tough call to make, which we all knew, but it became pretty evident after the penalty that we weren't threatening their defensive line.

None of this was helped by Eriksen and Alli having poor games, especially first half, but I think a big reason for this was that we didn't have a forward formation with any pace and movement to shift their defensive lines and create spaces for attacking threats.

Beyond all of this, is the CM issue. Siss and Winks have been run into the ground this season, especially Sissoko! How we managed to get this far with the squad we have is a huge achievement and an incredible testament to Poch. CL finalists....Spurs?

Hard to describe my mood or emotions at the moment. Still think I’m in disbelief over that penalty decision. I haven’t met a Liverpool fan tonight who thought it was a penalty. You could tell by the (their) players reaction post match they didn’t think it was either.

I don’t mind losing in a final, yeah it hurts, but to lose one within a minute because of a dubious decision does hurt.

Maybe over 90 minutes we didn’t do enough to earn a draw or win, but that decision changes the entire complexion of the match and just puts is us on the back foot for the rest of the game. As it was thought we were the better side but what is done is done. Bring on next season !
