That is wishful thinking mate no one can expect to keep a full squad all the time especially one that lacks the depth compared to the others, we can't hope to attain top four by winning a couple then losing a couple that's not consistent enough.

True but I think we have had more genuine first team players injured then others so that surely should change

Shit result yesterday but still think we are very well placed for top 4, even with Chelsea and Arsenal's improvement. Our season has been the most disrupted of all of the others and yet we are still only 1 point off 3rd, and could well return there Weds night. We've played the rest of the top 6 once already whereas the other two have a game to go.

Arsenal used that home advantage well yesterday, you'd hope we'd flip that on it's head in the reverse fixture.

Biggest concern I agree with is the strain on CM with the games coming thick and fast, however most teams are having a heavy schedule too, and overall we tend to go well over these busy winter periods.

We had people in here after demolishing Chelsea saying this should be a 'chase for the title' thread, now some are having us as outsiders for top 4. Bit of balance is needed I think.

FFS we are 8pts up on the same fixtures from last year...we are 1pt off 3rd, far too early to write us off. The Europa league will bite Chelsea and Arsenal in the latter stages as the level of opposition increases.

Poch Ballsed up big time yesterday but we’re still in great shape..

If we finish 3rd in our CL group exactly the same could be said of us.

Wasn’t that long ago you was moaning about us drawing too many

At the moment we have 1 more win than Arse and Chelsea, we have conceded less than Arsenal and have already played the top 5 other teams. Yes I know it’s tight but it’s tight for all 3 London clubs. Our toughest fixtures till Man U are Leicester and Everton away, and I expect us at the halfway stage to be 3-4pts better than last season. The most important thing for the rest of the season is to try and grab at least 2-4pts from our reverse fixtures against the 2 London clubs involved and hope they don’t nick wins v City and Liverpool

We've conceded and lost too many games already .

Did you see Barcelona bench yesterday and their injury list. They could field an extremely weak team.

No I didn't, but if they do have issues and field a weakened team then great. I still think it's very optimistic to think we'll beat them at the Nou Camp.

I think you have the wrong person mate I have not mentioned that to my knowledge, again it's not moaning just pointing out that we have a number of defeats that the other's don't have and that might make the target harder come May that is all I'm saying.

So far we've dropped points against the following:-

Home - Lost to Liverpool and City - 6 points
Away - Lost to Arsenal and Watford - 6 points

Chelsea have dropped:-

Home - Draws against Utd, Liverpool and Everton - 6 points
Away - Drew at West Ham, Lost to Spurs - 5 points

Still to play Man City (H)

Arsenal have dropped:-

Home - Draws against Liverpool and Wolves, Lost to City - 7 points
Away - Drew at Palace, Lost to Chelsea - 5 points

Still to play Man Utd (A)

I'd say pretty comparable records, even though we have lost more games in total. All that suggests is that it'll be a tight race between the 3 of us for those 2 CL slots IMHO. As I said in a prior post we are still well placed.

They have a cup game this week against lowly opposition I’d say it will be a pretty good indication of their team next week.

we can only finish 2nd or 3rd due to the results against each team. beat Barca definitely 2nd, draw with Barca and we would need PSV to draw with Inter at Inter. lose to Barca we would need PSV to win, if Inter better our result we are 3rd, as PSV can't finish any higher than 4th

well due to no draws this season, I'd have to go back over the 2 previous seasons, but I'm sure one of our 1st disagreements was over us drawing too many.

it might be very close at the end of the season, but at the moment I feel we can compete even if we need strengthening.

to be totally honest I can't wait for the season to finish this season, though going home might spark me into life

In the next 12 we have 8 at home and only have to face United of the “top 6” at home.

Arsenal are away to United City Liverpool and home to Chelsea. If we aren’t at least 6 points clear of them come mid February I’d be very disappointed I’d hope to be 9 pts clear.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both played 8 home games as well as opposed to our 5.

Said before Chelsea/Arsenal 6pts dreamy 4pts good and 3pts was ok. Tbh I’d have taken x2 draws quite happily. Let’s see how we get on in the cup game when they haven’t had a weeks rest.

the only extra fixture or different fixture is v Man U, who we play in January, unfortunately 9 of the possible 9pts are against our 3 toughest fixtures though they have Chelsea at home.

I'd not expect much in the cup match as I don't see Poch going strong, we have to rotate at the moment and unfortunately however frustrating it is to us all that wants a trophy being in the EL instead of CL will cost us an absolute fortune next season. we would have 3 group matches that won't sell out and will be ½ the cost in ticket prices

This is the league table after 14 games last season. Just to put a stop to the massive fapping over Arsenal. Let’s see yet again where they are in Feb. When the decline usually takes place. We are 6 points better off. They are 2. Hardly a massive change.

Been a bit miffed today that we can go from wanking ourselves silly after beating Chelsea to sucidal after losing away to the goons. People need to get a grip.

Arsenal are a different proposition this season though. Good manager who has got the team motivated, couple of reinforcements to their squad which has helped with depth (Torreira, in particular) and no toxic Wenger out campaign.

They may well tail off in the 2nd half of the season but personally I think it's slightly wishful thinking to predict a collapse like in seasons past. They're a pretty good team now unfortunately.

And yet they are 2 points better off than when they had Wenger at the Helm. And a point worse off than the season before. Who knows how they will fair in the second half of the season. They are putting a lot of effort in now. Will they be able to sustain it? It’s just way way too early to be either confirming or dispelling how good they are. And my final point is that they smashed us last season at the emirates. Yes the score line was different but the game was almost identical. And it was also sandwiched in between so pretty big games from our side.

Thing is he's a new manager and everything is going rosey at the minute.
They've been shit lucky in a number of games already.
Despite them being better than us yesterday we did 70% of the damage ourselves. Foyths fk up and Verts fk up were just inexcusable.
Anyway point I was gonna make is we're still waiting to see how he copes when they have a bit of a wobble, which they will.
As has been said its early days yet.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Chelsea have a big dip in form either.

I've said the same thing in another thread.

2 points behind Liverpool - finished above them
4 points behind Arsenal - finished above them
5 points behind Chelsea - finished above them

Even after 18 games we were still behind all 3 of these teams.

Let's just wait and see before we start with the defeatist attitude.
