He needs game time and so does Wanyama. I would play them both on Tuesday and bring on Dembele for one of them some time in the second half. And by the way Winks was no worse than anyone else bar Moura and Lamela today.
I'd gladly play them together against Brighton but I don't want to throw them in against Inter in champhions league together. He needs game time and so does Wanyama. Haha I like that name. But I'm on the record in the line up thread I don't want to see either of them. Play a 4-1-4-1 with Wanyama behind Son, Lucas, Eriksen, Lamela and those 4 behind Kane. Does it stabilize us in midfield? No but it should give us the attacking power to push through and we just have to count on Toby, Jan and Wanyama to clean up everything on defense.Do you think they would do worse than the D- men ?

smart take and good memory.....we really need Wanyama and Winks to get back to full fitness/ form and for Lamela to stay injury free....COYS!Ordinarily I would agree with that. I think that’s how we played when we beat Man City a couple of years ago . But I don’t think Wanyama is match fit enough yet to carry the entire DM , though I suppose Eriksen or Lamela could drop deeper to help him out. If Wanyama gets back to peak form I would happily see that formation.
It can't be worse than how Dier played today. Idk if it could risk him being out for another lord knows how many months then don't do it, but he's up for it I'm all in.Ordinarily I would agree with that. A fit Wanyama and Winks is our best pairing now IMO.smart take and good memory.....we really need Wanyama and Winks to get back to full fitness/ form and for Lamela to stay injury free....COYS!
Key word being "fit".A fit Wanyama and Winks is our best pairing now IMO.
And we should definitely be playing them as a two whichever combination we use.
Well they are both fit now. Just got to get their sharpness up to scratch, and that only comes with game time.Key word being "fit".
I hope they get that game time. I actually liked what I saw from each of them today, including Wanyama's brief time. Both coming back from long-term injuries, not easy, especially being thrown in against a strong Liverpool team.Well they are both fit now. And in a shit unsuited formation.I hope they get that game time. I actually liked what I saw from each of them today, including Wanyama's brief time. Both coming back from long-term injuries, not easy, especially being thrown in against a strong Liverpool team.
Why do you think Poch did that? And in a shit unsuited formation.
He's clearly tried to match them up and go player for player with them, god knows why. To change your system to go toe to toe formation wiseWhy do you think Poch did that?
A bit too clever by half at the moment. Decide on a 4 or a 5 at the back and stick to it. Decide on a formation and stick to it.He's clearly tried to match them up and go player for player with them, god knows why. To change your system to go toe to toe formation wise
you either need to have superior players(which we didn't have)or you need to frustrate them and play it defensively(which we didn't). This Pool team have been playing this system for years and know it inside out, of course they were going to do it better than we could.
He's starting to get a bit like Ranieri was at Chelsea. Trying to be too clever every week, and IMO it's not what he's good at. For me it should most of the time be the same formation every week. Tweek it in game by all means, but let's get some familiarity and consistency back into our play ffs.
It’s impossible to make any judgement until he gets a run of games. It was a terrible decision from Poch to throw him straight back into the side in such a big game, especially in a bizarre new formation with the other players around him in dodgy form.
But...I am starting to wonder if Winks is our Jack Wilshere. Homegrown boy that our fans desperately want to succeed because of his roots, some obvious ability but a real lack of consistency and end product. A stellar performance against one of Spain's big two that gets overhyped and put into folklore, but far more regularly delivers ineffective performances where he gets overrun. Terrible injury problems.
He seems like a nice young man, but needs to do far better if he's going to be the answer to our midfield problems this season.
