Only reason I think we might is because we’ve been after a Dembele backup for quite some time, and only recently have been linked with players that would serve as decent understudies for Eriksen. So we may be after both types.

I'm not sure if that first 11 comment has been taken out of context. It could just mean that whoever comes in would be ready to play in the first eleven, rather than being someone like Foyth or N'Koudou who were brought in as squad players.

Sorry but this isn’t the case. Lucas clearly falls into the ‘ready to play in the first XI’ category, but we know he isn’t the one JJ was referring to when he said straight into the XI.

I think you’ve missed my point with that one somehow. We’re talking about the stage of his career (ie experience) and his talent, not current level of fitness. The comparison was with the likes of Foyth and Nkoudou who are clearly brought in as squad players and not starting options. That’s not Lucas.

Ah OK... I think he will be a better option than Nkoudou off the bench.. when he gets to full fitness does he improve starting XI not for me..useful sub but not exactly what we need as a priority..my options only someone that can share creativity with Eriksen is needed more...would much prefer someone like Suso

The player to go straight into first 11 did not happen after us working on and will go elsewhere- Shame but very difficult and would have been a coup

Shame, not really surprising re the Coup. I guess we just have to watch out and see if any big names make a move any time soon. Beyond the transfers already linked in the press to us or others I can’t imagine who it could have been.

I wouldn’t consider him a big name signing tho, I wouldn’t think he would slot straight into the first 11 ether as talented as he is. Assuming we are talking about the same Schalke player. Also that seemed to be done a while ago BM no?

I think he walks into the starting XI at CM today...and yes, I think everyone assumed Bayern back in December, but it took a long time to reach that conclusion - makes me think other teams were talking to him in the meantime.

Reports just appearing in the press of him going to Juve so you could be right, could just as easily be the 26 year old Nice CM. We may never know. No real point guessing, just have to hope an ITK lets us know at some point down the line but understandable if they choose not to. if it’s that’s sensitive and hush hush we may never want it getting out.
