Great sentiment but I think the numbers are WAY off.

We have 25K registered users, but the real number of how many people we have visiting regularly is more in the 1-2K range.

If we could get 200 people to set up a recurring £2 a month then I'd be ecstatic as that'd come close to covering our costs but at the minute there's only a small handful of people who regularly donate and recently more are cancelling than creating a subsciption (understandable with Xmas, etc).

indeed, and dont get me wrong, i never thought for a second that we had 5k regular users but I guess I was just trying to show people the potential income for the site for what would be very little to it's users.

Really hope we can get the 200 odd people to donate regularly. I've been a user on this site since 2004 so i'd be devastated to see it have to close down.

I've only recently gotten myself a full-time job, so I"ve been regretfully free-loading for a few years. Once the pay comes in at the end of the month I'll be setting up a subscription. It's a great forum and I'd be lost during my work day and the entirety of the summer without it.

Would a monthly meter not help?

Have a monthly target visible at all times including the amount raised so far. Many sites have these and I know a few who've saod they help create impetus when visitors see how far the site falls short every month.

We used to have and it would be great but paypal doesn't directly tie into the site software like it used to on the old site and the none of the options for to do it are that good.

Why don't you just make the figures up, sort of like all those dodgy vicars and their church roof funds, keep it looking like you're still just a bit short. :cautious:

Would some sort of crowdfunding site work...

(I apologise if these kind of suggestions are annoying - I'm sure you've all discussed and disected every possible scenario)
