There's no such thing as "Free"
The slowest striker in world football, hell no.
I've watched a lot of Gignac over the course of his career. When we were linked with him a few years ago I was vehemently opposed to the idea, and to be honest, I'm still not his biggest fan. But I think if we are looking for someone to be back up to Kane, to do the things Poch wants Kane to do when he's not there so the system stays the same, then I think - for free, and that's important as I wouldn't want to paying a fee for him - then he makes some sense. He's never going to give you Suarez energy (he never has even as a young player) but Bielsa has had him working reasonably well, he's aggressive, robust and has a brain. He holds the ball up pretty well (better than Kane) and makes decent choices usually.
I think in that Naybet/King type way he could teach Kane a thing or two. And what we have to remember here is we are looking for a quality back up, not a first choice, that will work the system the same, offer similar qualities so changing striker doesn't change the whole dynamics. A year with Bielsa isn't bad prep for a season under Poch.
Harry K isn't exactly Usain Bolt but I don't hear too many complaints.
The big money should not be spent on a striker as long as we have Kane. Gignac would be a good bakcup option, and would leave us with more money to spend on a CM.
Gignac has scored as many league goals as Kane this season. We dont go out and buy a backup striker. We need to buy someone that gonna push Kane and keep him on his toes. If not we might as well just stick with Soldado? I much rather we get a younger and more dynamic striker that could challenge Kane, like Ings would do. If Kane get injured/tired/lose form i would be very dissapointed if we had to turn to Gignac!
Look what happened to Rose when he got some competition.
I'd like a striker with pace too, ideally one who could play wide when needed, but there is something to be said for a phyically bruising centre forward, who can rough up defenders, particularly in the PL. It's an option we haven't had for a long time. I'd be happy to see Adebayor and Soldado replaced by a quickie and a toughie. We dont go out and buy a backup striker. We need a couple of strikers I think if we are moving on Ade and RS
Really? He actually has very good pace for his size. The slowest striker in world football, hell no.
It was an attempt to be a compliment. The guy is within 5 pounds of Bony, who is by no means large, but is big for a football player. From April 2014 - Burger King named a burger 'whopper Gignac' because he was a chunky monkey lol
