Your spot on about the front 4 but in this instance it's absolutely integral that your cm 2 keep the football and track runners. Even more so in games like today where we were under the cosh for large periods we need people to take the pressure off the back 5 and keep it for us, to run at the opponent and force them back15-20 yards. Ask any defender how nice it is when the pressure is alleviated because of a midfielder or attacker getting hold of it and settling us down. Mason was quite the opposite gave the ball away a staggering amount and gave us no platform in which to build. Stambouli broke it up better today and also passed the ball better yet peopl rave about mason ? He's 23 and he's homegrown great ! But you have to be quality to play for tottenham hotspur and he should be a starter IMO
He didn't have a good game today. There's no dressing that up. And it's not the first less than great game he's had. But I think some of the problems our CM's are having are definitely being exasperated by the lack of diligence and discipline shown by those around them.
Like I said, I can't say that I think Mason is the future for sure, but we as a club are not going to be able to go out and buy the complete CM, even if he existed, so personally I think we need to show a modicum of patience, at the very least until the end of this season and see if Mason can learn.
I heard the commentator say today it was Kane's 50th appearance for us today. I'd say for the first 40 of those most of us wouldn't have believed what he's giving the team in the last 10.
I don't mind of Mason's dropped, because he ddn't play well and a kick up the arse might not hurt, and unlike many I think Capoue is a decent footballer, but I also don't mind if Mason isn't dropped, because I've seen enough in terms of his ability and mentality to think he's worth at least more time, if not the next game, then definitely at least some more games this season as we rotate etc.
