Chelsea target Raphael Varane wants to hold contract talks with current club Real Madrid before deciding on his future, according to reports.
The Daily Mail believe the centre-back is on just £25,000-a-week – small change compared to many of his team-mates – and wants an improved offer from Madrid before considering his options.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge, having already worked with him at the Bernabeu and rating him as Europe’s top young defender.
Mourinho has already added Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa to his squad this week, while a fee has been agreed with the La Liga champions for left-back Filipe Luis.
But the Blues boss is still in the market for another centre half, having sold David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain, as well as another striker.
Varane is believed to top Mourinho’s list of defensive targets and the Portuguese is keeping close tabs on the youngster’s ongoing contract negotiations as he plots a move.

Vorm has a 30% sell-on clause, so I imagine they are closely intertwined (we'll pay more for Davies and less for Vorm etc)

Varane, Dier, Lascelles, absolutely no one? Really have not seen any ITK on any of them tbh other than A&C's cryptic last season. An hour ago we were signing one but now it's the other. Jeez......Get.A.Grip.
