I'm not fan of Poch but it looks like 99% cert he's the next manager so we need to back him. All I want next season is to be competitive and at least beat teams who are in the top 4 at home.

I just can't ignore that he never won from being in a losing position at Southampton last season. It just screams to me of being 1 dimensional and when that doesn't work, the result is a negative one.

I'm not particularly keen myself, he of course will get my full support but it doesn't have me jumping for joy.

Mate, we'll be 4-0 up by then.

All these worriers! What could possibly go wrong? :shifty:

This was also my primary concern upon hearing of our interest (also they conceded 20 points from winning positions), but I'm hoping the counter from the Poch supporters that such a problem could largely be pinned on lack of depth and that he hasn't had a second summer to address his biggest weaknesses are major contributions factors. Very much hope they're right, as nothing pisses me off as a fan more than conceding a win late on. 2012/13 was awful in this regard.

Great news; you don't have to ignore it. Embrace it. We'll improve and learn together. It's gonna be fun!

person i follow on twitter said he's essentially the avb we wanted rather than the avb we got.

playwise, he's perfect. a pressing style loaded with creative midfielders? our squad was more than tailor made for this, in fact it's probably the only thing our squad is made for. lamela, eriksen & dembele/paulinho/holtby will thrive. it's really the way we should play.

my main question is whether he's the man to do it.

I've been saying that for the last two weeks - where you been? lol

What, is he the man to do all of the things that you just said he was perfect at?

I dunno...good question.

Southampton fans seem gutted to lose him but they have a different level of expectation to us, we expect CL qualification and rightly so, just hope he can deliver that

football isn't football manager - you cannot just come in with a series of ideals and instantly integrate them. if you could, we wouldn't even be discussing a replacement for andre. you need grit, determination, tact, a willingness to compromise and adapt. that is what i'm concerned about.

If a manager that has been successful left us to go to a bigger club, I'd be upset too.

But perusing their board, some
of them view us as a lateral move and are thinking they would make top 4 before we do. Gotta love the ambition, however unrealistic it is. IMO, we have a squad that should be able to get 4th, at the very least. 3rd is realistic if players are settled and performing to the best of their abilities.

we won't finish top four next season. arsenal, liverpool & united will all be better than us, not to mention chelsea & city

that's not overblown pessimism either - unless we're really, really good, we're not going to overcome at least 2/5 of them
