I remember the Paolo Tramezzani summer.

I will leave it at that for the moaners

Those were the really dark days. I remember his debut at Wimbledon, it was immediately obvious how terrible he was. That was the extent of strengthening for that summer.

This window was insane. So many conflicting emotions. The Soldado Thread(s), all the Bale developments, Willian being hijacked while we're talking about him being on the bench for Swansea, the rollercoaster rides waiting for players to be announced, the sale of Bale and then today's developments. Good Lord, my life, I want it back.

Last year was the first I got totally embroiled in this thread and the day after the window I came back expecting to see all the fun banter, postscripts, etc etc and it was like a morgue with just a handful of hardy stalwarts (addicts) coming back looking for a fix that wasn't gonna come. FELLOW ADDICTS: Now for cold turkey, you WILL survive.

Transfer windows are transient and the new day brings totally different needs for the average fan ie. actual football matches.

Us ITK addicts live a dual relationship with the club a) football b) transfers, and most of the time we can have either one or the other.
Apart from January which is like pure heroin, but I digress.

Anyway. Anyone who has found themselves addicted to this thread, rest assured, there is more to life and you will adjust back to reality eventually. And be back here like a fiend in January.

Big respect to all mods for their unending work, the ITKs for their entertaining efforts and the good people that come in here titting around like idiots, providing informed opinions and generally making this place the best thread on the World Wide Web, no doubt.

PS: We'll be great this year. :)

I think people forget that Levy didn't have to spend the money. Yes we have a £0 net spend but he could have easily spent only half the Bale money and there's fuck all we could have done about it.

OK sure we could have gone on to buy another LB, RB and a winger but that's a huge risk. We already have half a new team but some of you were after a completely new eleven. The signings we have made are dream signings and this has really put us in with a good shout of getting CL for the next decade.

We will walk top four this season, our squad is so strong.

Also Ozil is talking shit, Arsenal arent winning anything. No ambition from the lad.
I still thought that , despite our own poor performance yesterday vs the goons, they weren't that great with nearly a full irst team playing at home.

tbh I was convinced most of the money would go to the stadium fund, so I've been very pleasantly surprised. So what if we broke even - we still have to pay for wages and the TV money will help with this and towards stadium costs.

I really want to hear some announcements re: the stadium plans now.

Naughton, Verts, Fryers, BAE recall. How the hell is that no cover?

Fryers... you think he's ready for the step up into a top 4 backline...? Naughton, he's a RB who can fill in at a pinch - sounds risky to me. Verts - weakening one position to strengthen another. BAE - correct me if I'm wrong but he can only be recalled in the winter window, that's hardly cover is it.

Let's hope Rose steps up, he'll have to because he'll be targetted relentlessly for the rest of the year.

That we aren't as big as Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United? Because thats where all our 'proper players end up'.

We have a 36,000 seater stadium and haven't won anything major in many years. CL qualification isn't even a given. Every club is somewhere on the food chain. We aren't as bad as your Newcastles, Evertons of the world, but we certainly aren't at the top.
Not that long ago we'd lose those players to Liverpool, Utd, Leeds, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle... if we even had a player good enough for them.

The last 2 players we lost that we wanted to keep went to Real Madrid.
The 2 before that went to Man U.
We don't see to Chelsea, we don't sell to Utd, and we aren't a carcas to be picked at.

We've got a lot right this transfer window.

But I can't for the life of me understand why we would release Benny and go into the season with only Danny Rose at left back.

Madness.

And completely out of character with the thoughtful way that we have constructed the squad in pretty much every other position this window.

Apologies everyone, I've been a bit negative here today and I normally don't knee jerk.

No excuse but started a new job other day been really stressed and tired.

Combine that with the lack of movement today, seeing Bale kissing Madrid badge and the scum signing Ozil, put me in a shit mood.

Just about to go sleep now and feel much more positive after taking a time out. The best window we've ever has. Once we gel we're going to be such a good team. Think Eriksen is going to bring Soldado to life for us.

Still disappointed on LB situation but Rose has potential and we always have Jan transfer window.

Only just managed to watch the Bale unveiling..... Its like a bloody movie premiere. Quite sad that we won't be seeing him again but I don't begrudge him at all. I hope he doesn't get booed if he ever steps out at the lane again.

Anyway, tonight was a bit of a damp squib. Didn't expect anything to be honest and I'm just glad we kept Lennon and that we actualy have 3 proper strikers in the squad.

Surprised Sig is still there as I don't think he will get a look in personally.

I know it's been said a million times but I think we have dropped a bollock by failing to strengthen at full back. Other than a CF it was clearly our biggest weakness last season and even with the return of Rose it is still way behind the rest of the squad in terms if quality. We can't use the excuse we haven't had the funds either.

I also think, full back problems aside, the main reason folks are pissed off is that Arsenal have signed Ozil. They were always going to buy big though but as good as he is I was far more fearful when I thought they were going to buy Suarez.

I don't understand how some on here are arguing that RM screwed us by selling Ozil to the scum.
No team keep players who they want to sell to do favours to a third party. We will not do that if we are faced with a similar situation and so we can't expect others to do it.
RM paid us a World Record £85.3m. I repeat £85.3 MILLION! It takes some cheek and brazen faced person to expect us to dictate to them what to do with their players.

It is interesting that once again our net spend has been minimal, regardless of whether you think that we've invested enough or not.

Can anyone remember the last time we had a significant net spend? Must be January 2009.

It's been obvious for some time that we have been squirreling money away for the new stadium. People would rather believe in fantasy though and massive Joe Lewis spend ups as it's far more exciting.
