So in one fail swoop we loose our best player and enable the Goons to get a special player off of the same team? Im hoping this jaw dropper is Ozil, otherwise whats in it for us in the relationship?

I would hope Levy wouldn't allow that to happen. Sadly though, once Bale was gone, we lost all ability to influence Madrid.

Coentrao signing a new contract and then going out on loan makes sense. Protecting the amount of money they can get from him after the loan.

Folks don't do it to yourselves - Levy sold circa £108m of talent and bought circa £106m of talent whilst
circulating rumours of a huge £45m deadline day deal that will never happen.
A win win for him currently, good approval rating for spending/recirculating transfer funds and additional money in the bank, it doesn't get any better for him ...........the cynic in me would say.

Clearly the special relationship was Madrid's way of securing first dibs on Bale.

Oh, and Ozil, not sure he is what we need, and not bothered about if anyone else buys him.
Once our boys get a bit of rhythm going, it doesn't matter.

Hate to say it, but a big part of me has to agree with this. Maybe I am just cynical too.

Do you have to try and bring everyone down to your negative pessimistic view in every thread on the forum?

I'm going to stay up until at least 3 o'clock tonight so I can get up late just as the action starts revving up tomorrow

least he reinvested all of it back into the team, I made a thread at the end of the season with this possible scenario of bale leaving for big money and I assumed that Levy probably would have just pocketed most of the fee and got us a cheap replacement.
Thought It came true for a while with the bargain basement purchase of Chadli

Don't see Arsenal getting Ozil. We had them camped in their own half for most of the match, surely any player that watched that today could see we are ahead of Arsenal. They pretty much played as the counter attacking away team.

This is true. Whatever happens, we've invested it all into team.
