Apart from the baldini link, have we any evidence of an interest in lamela?

Its a bit hard to ignore the Bale stuff because it will affect who some of our targets are.

For instance if he's staying I really doubt we are going to make anymore 20 million pound plus signings.
I'm just playing. I accept that. It will eventually be resolved - but we can't fret over it any more than we are now. Just repeating ourselves - I just want to see links to defenders.

I like that Baldini is on the continent again - might mean he's talking to agents a la Soldado pictures

Will depend on a whole host of things - but if the idea is to bring forward £20m pa for 3 years into a single £60m payment, it wioll cost much much more.
The other effect is that it is seen as 'borrowing' by other potential lenders so will reduce Spurs borrowing capacity.
Not a geat idea - let RM bear the full cost of the move by demanding they give the £60m cash up froint.
Exactly - if they want the player, they can take out the loan!
That's like me wanting to buy a house and then asking the vendor to front me the mortgage as well!

I can't see why Roma would sell Lamela? And moreso to us.

And moreso to us?? Do you think Roma sees our money as somewhat inferior to money of the other clubs? Roma will sell if offer is good enough, wether it's us or some newly promoted Ligue 1 side or Barca. Doesn't matter to them and it's better than domestic options. Would be only concerned if we are willing to offer enough - probably not - and wether we can lure Lamela. Well, that shouldn't be such issue given wage he is on currently.

he means cos Baldini is working for us, and left Roma to do so. They might say "F*ck Spurs"

The bit that perplexes me is how if he is on this 'transfer committee' then why is he the last to know anything? Do they convene their meetings an hour early and then when AVB arrives humour him?

We should all chip in for a PI to follow Baldini across Europe watching his every move, record conversations, photograph scouting lists from his briefcase with a super miniature camera, capture grainy photos of him making love to various players wives, leaving dead horses head's in club president's beds, then we create massive flow charts and diagrams and timelines like when that mental chick from Homeland goes all crazy and covers her entire apartment in photos and crayon arrows, then we will understand the key to the universe and can all high five etc etc

And yes. I have thought about this a little too much.

Absolutely agree.

I'm still of the opinion that RM will fail to put a fully financed offer satisfactory to Spurs (see earlier post on Spanish banks etc), but there is still a chance that they may (lets say 30%).

IMO we will progress the players we need anyway (List A) whiilst refining a second list (List B) if Bale leaves.

The players we need now are probably one CB, another CB/utility player, possibly a wide forward and possibly a left back (if we decide to sell BAE). A number of candidates for these positions put forward. We will allow a few more players to leave - but doubt we can get too many more players in over the 4 positions just mentioned.

The only change to the candidates on list A, if Bale leaves could be the left back position where RM's Coentroa is probably too expensive and/or unobtainable unless Bale goes to RM.

List B I assume will be relatively short - say 2 or 3 players - as I am not sure there is time to bring more players in.
