Looks like Lamela is only on 1million Euros a year and is set fo contract talks. Would be good if we can get him - hats ofcourse only if Bale leaves.

the way I now approach this thread - is if I see any post with Bale in I just scroll to the next. Makes it so much more enjoyable.

Just looking out for the ITKs posting and the discussion that doesn't revolve around Bale. I suggest everyone gives it a try.

I appreciate I've mentioned him now as well, but for everyone else who is now going to post his name . . . you've lost me . . . I no longer care. Everything that could be said has already been said 50/100 times - there's no new angle. Don't even try!!!!!!

Will depend on a whole host of things - but if the idea is to bring forward £20m pa for 3 years into a single £60m payment, it wioll cost much much more.

The other effect is that it is seen as 'borrowing' by other potential lenders so will reduce Spurs borrowing capacity.

Not a geat idea - let RM bear the full cost of the move by demanding they give the £60m cash up froint.

Agree, that estimate was a very very conservative one.

Regardless of Bale going I'd buy Lamela; he will be worth £40-50 million if he carries on his progression by next summer. If we know definitely Bale will be off next season, makes much more sense to do it now.

Exactly this. It would be scary what we could accomplish if we got him and Coentrao. Saying that Lamela would leave for a minimum of £28million and even that is low for a player of his quality. It's crazy to think he has only turned 21 aswell. Sensational player who will be one of the world best very soon.

And on the same day it comes out they want to sign him to a new contract...

I've been saying for a while that bringing in Lamela would be a very difficult deal for us to do in a short timespan. Sabbatini would have to explain to the Roma supporters, as well as Totti, why they sold yet another high end talent with the season close to starting. He legitimately couldn't do that, and spend that money on replacement.

Furthermore, if you're Lamela, why take the chance to move to England when you're perfectly comfortable in Italy? Roma have a good squad, and if you can use us as leverage to get a new contract, why not wait a year for one of the giants to come in for you?

At this stage, we need to be resolute on either keeping Bale, no matter what, or we need to demand Real include Di Maria in any deal and put the impetus on Perez to convince him to join us.

I am morbidly afraid that Bale will be sold in about ten days (after back and forth between both clubs), and we won't have any replacements lined up, as Lamela, Ljacic, and Bernard will all either have moved or won't want to come to us.

Looks like JJ was correct when he said that Remy is off to Newcastle. Kinnear has seemingly confirmed that deal is about to wrap up.
Like I've said previously, until JJetset says differently, I'm operating under the assumption that Bale will be sold at some point. One just hopes it's not too late, and that several of Madrid's players are keen on joining us (Marca said today that Coentrao would welcome the move).
The options to upgrade the squad are limited if Bale goes, as Ljacic wants to move only AC Milan, and apparently, Roma is set to give Lamela a new contract.
Again, if he goes, we better hope Di Maria has changed his mind about joining us, or we'd be very vulnerable to no serious replacement for him.

Time and again JJ's QPR stuff is first class.
It's real shame so few of our off cuts are likely to want to go there though.
Remy to Newcastle is interesting because we must still retain an interest in purchasing a wide forward be it in the Bale replacement vein, a Lamela or Bernard or suchlike or just to flesh out the squad, a Remy type let's say.
Remy going to Newcastle suggests we have alternatives because he was always gonna appeal as a Levy signing.
We'll see.

JJ mentioned 2 top quality signings (in addition to Bobby) coming when he broke the Bale info. It would not surprise me if one of those was Lamela.

I thought we established that it was dependent upon Bale's sale? Either through players coming to us from Madrid or with the Bale funds. I'd love to think Lamela would be here in the event Bale was sold. He's not as good right now, but he's also 3 years younger.

I can't see why Roma would sell Lamela? And moreso to us.
Surely they'd be able to name their price and as a genuine star of the team, the fans would be in revolt, especially for him to move what they would consider a sideways step. If you were a Roma fan you'd probably understand if Barcelona came in for him but Tottenham? And himself, he's hardly likely to be dreaming of Tottenham is he?

UNLESS WE SEND OSSIE IN TO SEAL THE DEAL!

Sorted.

They want talks with his representatives regarding a new contract. So they're set to offer him one.

Every time somebody appears on this site & says something totally oddball and bizarre, I end up being mentioned. People really don't have the best of opinions of me on here do they? :(.

Oh well, at least A&C likes me

when I've donated :(

I like you Coopsie.

I thought your dog impersonations in Kelly's Heroes were great as well.

But to be honest mate, what happens with Bale will totally affect what we do this window - its pretty hard to ignore it given the huge implications it could have.

jj knows the score and joke or not avb gets very little input.

Freund has more of an input thanks to his close relationship with sherwood.

No problem with this though avb is only interested on the training field, he is so intense with tactics formations. People shouldnt worry about the thought of transfers every top club make signings usually above the manager/head coach these days.

hope your well tonight jair :)

What would you say Sherwood's remit is exactly LLM. He seems to be a minister without portfolio but have a finger in everyone else's ? What is Baldini's full remit would you say ?

He said he'd provide details at the end of the transfer window. Suppose there's no harm in asking but I wouldn't necessarily expect an answer before September.
