Notice a lot of Liverpool hate on here not sure where this comes from? Personally couldn't give a shit one way or the other about them

Because their fans are the most delusional twats out there, spend 5 mins on RAWK if you don't believe me.

But he wouldn't be involved with the financial side of things at Tottenham surely? Have no idea myself mate, just speculating :)

You don't have to be involved with the financial side of things to know whether a bid has come in.

I've always thought of Pleat within Levy's inner circle (stop sniggering in the back) for a good few years and whilst he has the look of a dirty old scroat and could pronounce John Smith wrong, he knows his onions for sure so have no problem with his close association with the upper echelons of the club.

What I guess we don't know behind the scenes is how AVB views his input and how he must surely interact quite closely with Sherwood.

Re: Bale ITK - surely, SURELY he must be wondering what spurs can achieve next year if we seal Soldado.. He must think we've been on the cuff the last few years and with many years ahead to do a big move, must be intrigued how far AVB (whom he "loves to play for") take take us with this squad we're building. He recent quotes from GB himself support this..

All this Bale nonesense is really taking the shine off some great signings.

I just checked Arsenal Mania - something I periodically do when we make a signing to gauge their reaction and to revel generally in their depression.

BUT at the moment all they can say is Bale is off, so they don't care who we sign because he is irreplaceable!

WHERE IS THIS NEW CONTRACT?!?!

Meh. For a world record fee he would be replaceable. It's not like selling one of the top strikers in the world to one of your rivals and replacing him with Podolski.

Not that we'll sell Bale anyway.

Clearly. But that wasn't my point. It was to do with his opinion on the 100 million, hard to turn down etc....

I'm saying without having all the knowledge regarding the wider implications of doing such ie Bale's rising commercial value to us, planning for the stadium, securing more lucrative naming rights...the list goes on.

Only Levy and a little posse around him will have an idea of Bale's true worth to us at the moment in light of the things above, and many more things it would need to be measured against.

So my point is, we don't actually know if 100 million would be really hard to turn down, and I'm not sure Pleat would know either.

I think I can pretty safely guarantee you 100million would be hard to turn down. Quite rightly, too.

Not at all, no.

We didn't want Jurgen to leave, certainly. But he was free, under the terms of his contract, to do so. And who could blame him when Bayern were in for him? He never had anything but kind words to say about Spurs.

It was amazing that he gave us that year at all - given that he was one of the superstars of world football and that we were a very ordinary club in what was, at the time, a very ordinary, backward league that was still recovering from the dark ages of the Heysel ban.

He was the first top foreign player to join the Premier League. Before him, there were mostly only Brits, Irish and Scandiwegians. Cantona had become a revelation after moving to England. But he certainly wasn't big news when he first joined Leeds.

Jurgen was the trailblazer. And I can still barely believe that, of all clubs, he chose to come to Spurs.
Ossie and Ricky?

It doesn't mean Levy would definitely accept it, that's all I'm saying.

I really think quite a few are underestimating the commercial value of Bale.

Sorry but anyone (associated with football or not) would recognise that 100 million is well, 100 million. One of the best sides in Europe over the past two decades sold their star player for 80 million.

I don't see anyone in their right mind (including Levy at his most arrogant) turning that money down or even being allowed to turn that money down irrespective of what AVB or anyone else thinks about Bale. We could replace him for half that amount leaving enough for Levy to ponder on which Hawaiian paradise he wants to buy with this cut.

Its not just about replacing his footballing ability, its his commercial value to us.

Why can't some people grasp that.

Why do you think Madrid are so desperate for him.
