I sooooo want Bernard over Chadli. I'd be happy to take a cheaper CF than Benteke to make that happen.

Chadli doesn't play CF. He's jobbed at RW and ACM, but never CF.

Yes. I can live with Benteke and Chadli as plan B though. I don't know why, I just can't see us signing Bernard, not necessarily through any fault of our own.

Yes, but as a 3rd option it might be the way the club is thinking. Even is as only a secondary striker. I'd be happy to keep Ade and JD as the strikers alongside Benteke if he joins.
That assumes one of Ade or JD do leave of course. In which case we'll have 3 proper strikers and not 2.5 if they both stay.

Chadli is just too direct for me (considering our other likely starting front 5). We need someone with more craft and guile. If we don't get Bernard, we need someone more in his mould.

We should be aiming to at least challenge for it. Yes we will be massive outsiders but it has to be our aim.
I will not for a second start expecting to win the league. But if we don't try whats the point. Why bother spending 40-50m on players? To challenge for 4th? That's them lots down the roads motivation.
This year is our best chance since 91. Lets go for it.

Paulinho and benteke plus a couple more is some serious money.
Bale must have been informed that we would be making big improvements to the squad and that is why he is happy to stay.
Looks like we are going to have a very, very good team next season. I know we have had some very good sides in the last few years but I feel that this years team will surpass all of those.
