Look at the penalties Hazard has been winning for Chelsea since his arrival, think Willian could have a similar impact, defenders hate defending against players with tricky feet. I think he'd be a great signing.

Really?

Who in our squad can dribble like him?

Who in our squad is unpredictable like him?

Apart from VDV (and maybe The Sig), who in our squad offers guile and craft?

Bale and Lennon offer none of the above.

Bale is so much better than Willian it is hard to know how to even debate the point. If you don't value my opinion ask Mourinho which player he is interested in signing.

Bale and Lennon are so predictable in their play that basic defending can effectively keep them quiet.

They are both overrated and need a reality check.

Jose already has his Willian type in Di Maria and unlike Bale, Ronaldo knows how to dribble and isn't predictable on and off the ball.

Yeah, I mentioned elsewhere I wasn't sure how he would fit into a formation.

There's no doubt the guy has talents, but it will be interesting to see where they use him at.

They will use him at his position as a winger. Rotate with Bale and Lennon. Pretty cut and dry.

If we sign this guy for 20m instead of using the money on Dembele and Isco it will be the dumbest use of money since we blew 16m on David Bentley.

I don't really think signing Willian would make us say we can't go after Isco and/or Dembele.

It appears as though we are about to sell Modric. From what AVB said about Dawson (Basically that he is currently a part of the squad and happy to have him - but didn't really say he wasn't going anywhere) and also from Pulis' comments (They will be talking to Tottenham again on Monday) I have to believe that he's on his way out and that additional funds will be raised from his departure.

Depending upon the fee of Modric which is probably 33m after add-ons, and with Dawson looking like anywhere between 7-9m, we can realistically say that about 35m is going to be coming in (28 = Low-end for Modric and 7m for Dawson). That's a lot of money to go out and spend.

I believe Willian will end up at about 16-18m in the end. That leaves about 19m at best to add on to whatever money we might still have before we start making moves.

That's plenty of money to add 1 of Dembele or Isco, but probably not Moutinho.

At this point in time, Dembele and Willian would be my choice as I know what we're getting in Dembele as he is a proven commodity that could immediately slot in to Livermore's position, and Willian can hopefully give us someone on the right that is not only creative but can deliver a decent final ball (Something Lennon lacks considerably).

The most important thing at this time in my opinion is to make quick business of the departures. If we want to sell players, especially the likes of Jenas and Bentley, I would simply take what offers are available and move forward. Then, I finalize the deals for Modric and Dawson, hopefully before Tuesday. That leaves DL with about 3-4 days to really make a push with some extra funds to get some talent in. The squad as it stands is close to being very good, it just needs a little extra creative flair from the midfield, as well as a better finishing option on the right wing.

Snarf - you are far more sensible than DL, sadly he won't behave as you suggest.

But we've offered 12 million euros and they want 30 million. I just can't see it being that close. I'm not sold on him either, looks overly flashy but not a whole lot of substance. Bale may be predictable, but even when defenders know what he is going to do he's so hard to stop. First half on Saturday he was absolutely dominant.

Just checked the Shaktar Donetsk website, seemingly Willian wasn't in the squad for the game yesterday because his head wasnt right.

£11.8 mill for Willian. Of course they reject it!! Just to compare. Fletcher joined Sunderland for £12mill. (That is amazing, but of course they will reject it).

But Fletcher is has been sold for £10m more than he's worth. It's Sunderland who are the fools not us.

To be honest, is he worth more then £14m, £16m at a push? Considering he is in the last year of his contract and will be steady competition for wingers. Unless he's the dogs bollocks would we break our transfer record for him?

Dont forget in europe they work in euros so im guessing that 11.8 million pounds is 14-15 million euros. He has ability, i think this one will go through but not until we raise our bid. Plus he wants to come!!
