i think the players are going to be in for a bit of a shock re. training.

perhaps they'll get together and one of them will point out that it's a) their job to do what their manager wants them to do, b) that they earn more money a week than most people do a year and running around a bit more for four days of the week isn't really too much more to ask...

Prof at COYS posted an info dump from Galahad the Gnome (COYSequivalent of the Goat):

Gomes: "Tony Parkes rates him as the best keeper at the club. Waiting to see what AVB thinks. Club looking at two other keepers, one in UK, one overseas."

I hope AVB doesn't make him the main man, Gomes is a great keeper, but until he stops having a nervous disposition and sudden rushes of blood to the head he is not ready to be a PL goalkeeper. We need a keeper who is calm, to keep the defence calm. Like Friedel but one who fits into a team which plays a high line. Krul to me still seems the best choice.

AVB: "Lads being called in for double sessions. Training under HR was very old school but a lot of fun. Going to be very different from now on. We'll see what they think of that. Whether he succeeds is mainly a matter of whether our players can buy into his training and tactical ideas. We don't have the massive egos that CFC do which should help."

Hopefully the players in our team are young enough and are willing to try something new. Although it appears a small thing the fact that the most senior players in our side remain still much younger then AVB might help as they will still view AVB as their senior and thus are less likely to challange his authority

Transfers: "Lots of clubs interested in lots of our players, including many we'd like shot of. We've baited our rod to try and catch some big fish. Individually none are more than 50/50 but we have some confidence that we can get at least one of them to bite. It's not easy though competing with the financial resources of some other clubs."

This is key to the start of the season, we are already a good team, we just need that extra world class player, particularly if modders goes. Lets see what happens...

Thanks, as ever, to Galahad's sources."

None of this is shocking but still shows that the club is working towards the right direction.

First off Berglad you beautiful whoring bastard! Good work sir! (y)

If the players buy into AVBs ethos and tatical ideas then I think AVB could prove to be a very successful manager for us and I hope they don't throw the toys out of the pram with the double training sessions.

Stevenage when they were managed by Graham Westley are a great example of how players buying into a mangers ethos and philospy can bring great success to a club. I know we are a much different propostion than that of SFC and obviously the players/managers are different but I still feel its an interesting example of how it can be successful.

I know a couple of the ex players at Stevenage and some other people involved in the club and it was really interesting to see how the players brought into Westley's methods. The players basically did 9-5 training all the time, every day was a double training session and they would spend hours on opp prep and tactics. The players really brought into Westley's style of management and could probably at a push be described as a cult hence the reason quite a few have moved to PNE with him! The way the manager worked them and the way the players brought into this was a major catalyst for them rising from the conference to L1 playoffs in three years.

If our players give AVB a real chance and buy into what he is trying to do then I think our squad could be capable of some great things in years to come. COYS!

Agreed, it may be a rude awakening for some but really the sky is the limit for this squad with the addition of some more thorough preparation and tactics...if they get on board with it. I think some of the players who really want to win may thrive on it, too.

Could go 2 ways, the players could go for it and we would have the fittest most disciplined team in the premiership or it could backfire big time like it did when Ramos tried to impose rabbit food on our players and banned tomato sauce which helped turn the players against Ramos

In any relationship compromise is important so it will take both sides working together to make this a success. The players have to buy into it and not resist the change in approach but equally AVB has to be sensible in the way he manages the players. If AVB goes too far too quickly then it could turn nasty. The ITK last week about the way AVB was with players - having lunch with them etc was encouraging.

IIRC there was a bit of noise and info towards the end of last season that some of the players were concerned that about training method and lack of opposition prep and tactical training so maybe if that was true they may be much more receptive to AVBs new methods?

Read the twitter thread for Sylvie's response to the rumours saying she's pushing Rafa away from London.........

She's hardly going to say "I'm sick of it and can't wait to get out. Rafa is currently being denied clunge until we move back to Germany".

Yeah I think it could work, as long as AVB doesn't go wading in with the big stick and treating the players like naughty kids I think he will have them ' on side '

I remember last season there being ITK about Adebayor and walker and Gallas being unhappy about Harry training methods so I think things will be ok

Fortunately we don't have too many "superstar" players with outside interests or opportunities. Our lot seem to be more homely/play station than others, and would love to spend the whole day training than go home and be bored. add this desire to improve to a belief that avb's tactics and thorough preparation can reap rewards and we could be on to something big. Parker seems to exemplify the attittude that avb will love and will hopefully lead from the front.

If she takes the time out to answer that, which I'm sure loads have asked....why bother answering if she's going to lie?

Oscar isn't happening, he turned us down (not big enough).

watched inter play last night (Oscar and leandro both scored) against cruizero - in front of an empty stadium!!!

16000 average attendance - in a 56000 capacity stadium.

Add Modric and vdv to that. They said they loved Harry's approach but it was obvious they could see the limitations
