Hey, cambridgespur - not that you've ever posted or likely will - go fuck yourself. In fact, fuck all of Cambridge, just so I'm sure you'll be fucked.

What happened? You ok? Do you need counciling?

That's pretty contradictory from Redknapp after what he said a few months ago.

That said, the fact that he clearly wants to stay is good. The players do appear to want him and we need the stability.

If he left I could see him being snapped up by a rival of ours and really ramming it down Levy's throat.

Still dislike the way he does this sort of thing in public, but it makes sense for him personally I guess.

just seen Harry speaking on sky sports

Our manager making an interview like that surely suggests this has gone too far now?

Time to shake hands and say goodbye to each other.

The thing is, if Harry wanted a 4 year deal because he wants to be at Spurs and build the team and maybe challenge or win a title over the next 4 years. Then I would happily forgive and forget what has gone wrong and his non-committals of recent months, and hope Levy signs him up.

The reality is that 65 year old Redknapp wants the security of a 4 year deal for compensation purposes should things go awry. It's not a new thing. Plenty of older players want the security of multiple-year deals to give them and their family financial security.

For me, I want a manager who wants to be here for 4/5 years and build on an already excellent side and achieve something. Not somebody who will make do with us because he didn't get the England job.

I seriously don't know any manager who would come out and say things like this, even Di Matteo who just won a CL as a caretaker has spouted off bullshit like this.

I couldn't. He deals with pressure as well as a wet paper bag.

Totally agree, he's done a good job at Spurs but if you gave him the Liverpool squad he would do no better than the man they just sacked! IMO they'd do worse.

I have no worry at all should we lose Harry to one of our rivals.

This is so frustrating as we the fans are so powerless. I'd love for us to go out and snap up Deschamps or Blanc or Moyes...quality managers who concentrate on the job not themselves.

Reality is that a guy on £20,000 a year needs a deal for their families security not a footballer or a 65yr old that has been earning the amounts he has during his career, not that I know the exact figures of course.

Agree.

If you're future is hanging by a thread, the last thing you do is have a political jab at someone in mourning. Levy will surely be furious. I hope he comes back next week and fires him with a big parting shot (one of his great open letters on the website simply talking about Redknapp's behaviour would do the trick)

There are people like Dan and people like Blockbuster. And they have every right to their beliefs. I think most of us fall in between but, regardless of where you sit on this fence, none of want this to become explosive and drag the club into some dark mire of misery. I am worried that these comments, or the timing of them, might have done just that. Hopefully, I am wrong, but I am worried that this summer just became bad.

Is it merely down to the length of contract that Harry demands that is the main sticking point or has there effectively been no offer from the Spurs board since the England fiasco?

OI!

I used to live in Ely....I hope you're not including that.

Edit. Just seen this, and am assuming it also includes people who used to live near Camvbridge:

I was not justifying it, I was making a comparison trying to illustrate Harry's mentality on the new deal - which is that of an ex-player. Being a football manager is a precarious job - you have to build yourself a safety net, only have to look at how long George Graham, Alan Curbishley, David O"Leary have been out of work. Which is why the Chelsea job is so attractive to managers, even if they fail they get 3/4 years compo!
