Seems as though we're gonna let Kabouls contract expire this summer. Don't know whether this is a good idea. Losing a quality centre back when he does play but we do need centre backs that we can rely on to play consistently. Who would you sign in the summer to replace him?

Thought Kaboul's contract ran through June of 2015.

We still need a new CB signing (with our track record of injuries to the back line probably wouldn't hurt to sign 6 extras) but i think it will depend on the manager.

New manager will want to players that fit his system. FdB may want Veltman but Poch may want someone else and Benitez want someone else.

lets at least let out new manager say what type of player he thinks he needs.

If FDB comes I hope he persuades Alderwield to come along since he's hardly played at Athletico. Both have previously worked together at Ajax

It all seems a bit vague regarding Kaboul's contract situation, some believe it expires this summer but Kaboul himself said in an interview a few years back that it expires in 2015 (next summer).

In regards to any replacement, I'd be happy with any of Virgil Van Dijk of Celtic, Stefano Denswil or Joel Veltman of Ajax, Eder Alvarez Balanta of River Plate, Toby Alderweireld of Atletico Madrid or maybe Phil Jones of Man Utd (I just wanted to suggest an English CB )

I may be wrong but I doubt Kaboul will ever be near the top notch CB he once was. As I have stated before, I rather not have another Ledly King situtation at the CB spot. 2 years of injuries and there are still doubts about his fitness, so I rather see him go really (but would love to be proven wrong).

There is a lot of confusion over his contract. Latest ITK's here claim it's this summer!

Could it be this summer, but with a club option of 1 year? So if the club is not exercising the option clause, he'll be free to go in the summer.

I hope we keep him, he is too good to release.

If his injury keeps coming back, I don't think we should go through what we did with King. Kaboul isn't on the same level as King where he could come back after months out and be the best player on the pitch so although it would be harsh, if the medical team think he's crocked I'd rather let him go. All due respect to Kaboul though who I like and do hope he can carry on for us.

He maybe a little handicapped as compared to before his injury, but he's still better than most.

He's played in the last few and looks to be getting back to match sharpness. He's not been at the top of his game and has been exposed a bit by the porous nature of our midfield and the high line.

There is always the possibility of a breakdown, but he's had a few games and looks as though he may be over the worst and making his way back.

If this is the case, it would be madness, IMO, to let his contract expire.

A fit and firing Kaboul is a monster.

Hope he says, but if not, I'd go for Veltman or Shaar as replacements.

Would like to give Younes one more season, if he can keep himself fit and really try and have a chance to come back to where he were. If he gets an major injurie again, let him go next summer.

Missing the "Kaboul, Kaboul, Kaboul is on fire!"

Fair points, though he has got a few games under his belt recently and a full pre-season might do him the world of good?
