Belgian sources claim that Tottenham have beaten Manchester United in the battle for the signing of midfielder Jose-Paul Mpoku.

The Standard Liege youngster has just turned 16 and has been strongly linked with a move to The Premier League following promising displays with youth teams.
The Congo-born rookie has reportedly agreed to move to White Hart Lane, as Spurs continue to try and sign young players for the future.
An official announcement is yet to be made by both clubs while it has been claimed by the Belgian press that a compensation package must be paid by the North London club to champions Standard.
Mpoku, who is an attacking midfielder, had also attracted interest from United but has already confirmed visiting White Hart Lane and appears to be Spurs-bound.

Nice to see Comolli's doing the right things in the youth players market if this is true. If ManUre are in for him he must have some talent.

To be fair, they haven't created a decent player from their youth ranks since the mid 90's. But this did save the lad from eventually ending up at Sunderland:grin:

Though last time we signed one of the hottest talent from Belgium and he was Blondel who lately turned out a decent player in Belgium.

Now taking bets on how many SC'ers will be calling for him to be 'given a chance' in the first team by the end of September
