More Poch comments post-match on resting Dele, Eriksen and Sanchez:

Was keeping some big players out with Tuesday in mind a risk?

Which players?

Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Davinson Sanchez?

Okay I explain. Davinson Sanchez played Monday and Wednesday 90 minutes and I think to play today and to play Tuesday and Saturday should be a big risk, a big, big risk. Then I think I was so happy with Juan Foyth and Toby wasn't involved in the Carabao Cup. Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, if you follow us, they came from injuries and we need to be clever in the way that we manage. That's it. For me it doesn't exist these big players. For me it's a big team, a big squad. The depth of the squad we are showing against West Ham and today and a team like Manchester City came here and only drew. I think we need to give more value to the squad. Nobody talks about Sissoko, or different players that are doing a fantastic job like Ben Davies or Harry Winks. They are playing a lot. Always we try to find big players. All are big players, all are big player. I don't like to say big players. I want you to talk about all the players with the same respect and all are important. Tottenham are going to win with one or another name if we have the right mentality. If we have the big names and no mentality we are not going to win. We are to be weak, only names on the pitch.

11 matches played, 7 of them away, 4 "at home", such as it is.

Three points off the top, despite multiple injuries all season. Six matches in a fortnight. Visibly knackered players all over the pitch, running on fumes, but still gasping out a win.

Out of our 7 away matches, we have won 6 and lost 1. That's the away form of a team that wins the league, at least once they get to play half their matches at home - a proper home - instead of 36% of them.

But the only thing the fuckwits here can do is to diss our individual players, at length, disrespectfully and repeatedly.

It's a team game. Our team, playing 64% of its matches away from home, shorn of 4-6 key players at any given time this season through injury, with 9-10 players only just recovering from an exhausting summer, is averaging 2.18 points per game, which corresponds to 83 points over the season.

Get a grip, people. On reality. No, we are not playing silky football, except in spasms - which usually lead to goals. We are winning matches anyway. That's what really good football teams do. They just keep winning.

Love this

I think most people get that.

Part of the frustration is left-over from the non-activity this summer. Some of the frustration is over the stadium, and how the club are handling that situation. Part of it is, we all see how teams around us are playing - and the top teams are a fair bit ahead of us in quality, even if not in points.
Tbf I don't think any team looks particularly great. Liverpool are getting results but look flat compared to previous years, Man Utd are simply awful, Chelsea are playing lovely stuff but look vulnerable defensively, the same can be said about Arsenal. The only team who are clearly playing incredibly good stuff is Man City, but they are not on the level they were last season. I'd say Arsenal and Chelsea have kicked on while Man city and Man utd have regressed. Liverpool I've yet to be convinced by, but they seem solid.

We look to have gone backwards, but we were doing much worse this time last season. I mean we lost 2-0 against Arsenal and frankly were lucky to get away with just that. We are four points up on last season and this time last season we were at the beginning of what would turn out to be a terrible run that'd leave us in 7th place behind Burnley. We haven't been able to play anything close to our strongest team this season. We will get there.

Ultimately, we probably should of taken Wolves to the cleaners after being 3-0 up. We didn't, but we didn't crumble in the end. We stayed firm and picked up our points and this time next season collective amnesia will strike again and people will be complaining about something else!

Your sample size is too small.
Ok lets make the sample bigger then. But ultimately, to say Aurier has kicked on we need examples to suggest that he has, I don't remember him having a particularly good end of last season but more than happy to be proved wrong.

I'm happy enough.

A tricky away game with quite a few important players missing , and we won it.

We scored three good goals, they scored two penalties, one of which was a completely unnecessary gift that gave Wolves what turned out to be false hope.

Pochettino is clearly still happy with Foyth, who played well overall and will no doubt learn from the experience. As I hope will Trippier, who will get a few choice words from the manager to set him right no doubt. Harry's looking a bit sharper, certainly not at his best yet but still dangerous and notching up important goals, and we can look forward to Christian, Dele and eventually Jan coming back to add considerably to the strength of the team. Rose too maybe.

We all knew that the first few months of the post-World Cup season would be hard, and injuries have compounded the problem.. Yet we're still well in touch with the leaders, and have played fewer home games than anyone. I believe that we'll improve, we know what we're capable of, and we've got a nice points total as a foundation to build on.

Despite the gloom about the stadium delays and the lack of transfer activity in the summer, there's there's a lot to be optimistic about.
What I liked about Harry Kane today was that he was playing like a kid again. Shooting on sight. Getting his shots off early, running after lost causes. While, I think the maturity he has added since then has improved him as a player he needs to try and keep that little bit of edge. Also, whenever he is in a tough patch this is exactly how he should play. Very happy with his performance tonight.

Found it interesting that he chose to celebrate with Llorente, wouldn't be surprised if he'd been sharing some of his experiences with Harry.

The end of last season he was not good. He has been better in the last few games imo. You need examples try re watching them. If you can't see he has improved then that's your opinion.

In terms of league form, we are 1 point ahead of last season, after 11 matches, and 3 points ahead of last season based on the same opposition, with promoted teams standing in for relegated ones in finishing order, as usual.

hmm I thought we were 1 point up before today? With the equivalent game being the Arsenal loss meaning we would now be 4 points up.

Edit: My mistake, we beat Palace last time out. Arsenal is the week after that was the beginning of a run of 2 points out of 4 games. Wow I hope we don't go close to replicating that run, or there will be carnage!

That's not a valid comparison. We've had a run of games over a short period of time, during which players have been coming back from injury. Time played has been limited in order to nurse them through their recoveries and for a defence to gel there needs to be stability. I don't know how you can come to your conclusion, which I suggest is a tad premature.

If this was twitter I'd pin this to the top of the page. Perfectly put.
One footnote, the last season we actually played at a proper home I believe we had 17 wins and 2 draws.

My conclusion is no different than it was last season. My point is for me nothing has changed regarding my opinion of Aurier and I've seen nothing to make me change my mind. There is nothing premuture about it. It would, however, be very much premature for me to believe Aurier has already turned the corner based on recent performances (which as I have explained, in my view indicate little to suggest this is the case).

I'm sorry I'm a little confused what you are getting at. My comment was a reply to a very specific point. Not a general opinion of how Aurier will always be or anything. I tend to believe players can change, develop and grow. I believe that players can do this at any age and at any point. Because humans are weird like that and not at all consistent its the same for footballers. But this doesn't change the fact that no recent appearance Aurier has made has made me think he is on the up.

We’ve possibly ridden our luck a bit in the league (including today) but been unlucky in the CL in terms of getting points.

Great game we obviously have problems in midfield but Poch is managing the team excellently IMO

I think we're going to hammer Wolves.

We're going to put down a marker to the rest of the league.

Poch's boys are ready to win the league.
I think we'll go three nil up and then contrive to give away two penalties; and they'll have a legitimate goal chalked off. I think I'll then spend the rest of the night trying to calm down and then feeling satisfied at the dirty win, especially when I look at the table.

Can't believe those pens. Both are harsh. Second one is not really a pen. First one is a bit of a nothing.
First was a penalty, second not, but we're talking Mike Dean here and he'd have been trying to even things up after not allowing their goal in the first half.
